How is the snowflake cotton of Mu Na Supreme Jadeite formed? Can this standard be used to judge the quality of jade?

Jade is a dense block aggregate formed by the interweaving of countless tiny fibrous mineral microcrystals, mainly jadeite. Cotton is a common white foreign mineral in jade, mostly in the form of flakes, clumps, filaments, and dots. Cotton is also an impure component contained in jade and is considered an impurity. Since cotton is an impurity, no matter how much it exists, it will affect the purity of the jade texture to varying degrees.

There are many types of "cotton" in jade, but snowflake cotton is the most unique type of all jade cotton. It is characterized by pure white color and lightness. It floats inside the jade and blends with the seeds, becoming a part of its structure. It is clean and smooth, numerous, and distributed in a dense, even and orderly manner.

Snowflake cotton is different from cotton. Snowflake cotton is very unique and the process of its formation is very difficult. Snowflake cotton can only be formed in a continuously stable environment of low temperature and high pressure. Snowflake cotton jade is extremely precious. It has pure bloodline and quality, and its output is extremely rare.

Snowflake cotton must be combined with excellent water quality to show the beauty of each snowflake being clear and transparent, and each grain being like frost and snow, adding a poetic and picturesque artistic conception to the clear water base. Good snowflake cotton does not float on the surface of the jade, but is hidden inside the jade piece. It is very light-transmissive, yet appears barely visible when worn. The cotton spots should be smaller and evenly distributed, appearing light and delicate. The number should be moderate. Too many will lose its aura, and too few will lose the atmosphere of flying all over the sky.

So why did "Muna" become famous? The main point is that after the 1960s, the output of materials from the entire Phakant field was almost a losing streak, while the upper and lower "Muna" fields produced full-color glass-type jade. Therefore, jade merchants throughout Southeast Asia were flocking to the "Muna" materials, and some mines' raw stones imitated "Muna" and pretended to be "Muna". After Chinese people started playing with jade, "Muna" began to become famous in China in recent years and has been extremely sought after in the mainland market. The name "Muna" quickly gained recognition in the market.

Driven by the market, some famous mining areas had to lower their noble heads and submit to "Muna". The Damakan, Molaogang, Xiantong and Mogan mining areas were even more cheering that their materials had some cottoniness. There is a saying on the Internet that describes "Munna" like this: the sea and the sky are one color, snowflakes are dotted, chaos is just beginning, and "Munna" is supreme.

In fact, many products claiming to be "Muna" on the market are not actually produced from the "Muna" mine at all. The annual output of the "Muna" mine is very small. However, many materials named "Muna" have excellent water quality and color. Their quality is even better than that of the original "Muna" field. It's just that their origin is not familiar to the market, so they have to say that they come from "Muna". Later, jadeite with similar characteristics was classified as "Muna".

There are many types of "cotton" in jade, and "snowflake cotton" is a very unique one. Why does "snowflake cotton" form? It is caused by the special geological environment. To form the geological environment required for glass-type jadeite, the elements must be single and pure (if there is only chromium, it will be imperial level), and the low temperature and high pressure must be a stable environment to finally form "snowflake cotton". "Snowflake cotton" is the mark of the transformation of jadeite from "stone" to "treasure", and it is also the proof of the highest level of bloodline and quality (type). No matter what color, the output is very scarce.
