Today I will share with you my personal experience in the four major techniques for selecting jadeite raw stones. You won’t see it anywhere else. I often tell you not to buy jadeite raw stones casually, but many people still don’t listen. Today I will tell you the four key points in selecting jadeite raw stones: look, smell, ask, and cut. Next, I will explain how to understand these four studies.

Look means to look with your eyes to see what the skin of the stone looks like, what its cracks are like, what its color is like, and whether there are other characteristic features on the skin. Therefore, looking is the first step, and it is your first impression of the stone.

Smell, not with the nose, but with the ears. This is a little trick that is overlooked by many people. Usually after we look at the jadeite raw stone, we will use the metal parts in our hands to knock on the cut surface of the jadeite raw stone. It is the cut surface, not the skin. A good quality jadeite raw stone will make a sound like metal or ceramic when knocked. But if it makes a sound like hitting a watermelon or a sound like knocking on a clay pot, then it means that the quality of the jadeite raw stone is still not good enough.

Asking means communicating. You can ask the boss how much the stone costs. No matter how good the stone is, it is not worth buying if it is priced so high. You can also communicate with friends and colleagues and ask everyone what they think about the stone.

Cutting is more abstract. It means that you have to consider the stone based on all the information you have now and your own experience, and what will happen after you cut it. What will happen after the first cut, the second cut, and the third cut? This is a skill that every qualified jade expert must have.
