Are the methods of identifying jadeite mentioned on the Internet reliable?

For many people who want to buy jade, the first thing they worry about is buying fakes. The second is the worry that the jadeite they bought is not cost-effective, the price is not equal to the quality, and they will suffer a loss. The easiest way is to go to an appraisal agency for appraisal.

In recent years, more and more people have liked jade, and the number of such people is increasing. So in order to avoid buying fakes, many jade lovers will learn some methods of identifying jade on the Internet and from videos, including the orange peel effect method, water density measurement method, gloss method, weight method, etc. Some methods can indeed be used as a basis for identifying the authenticity of jade, but have you learned them?

These identification methods are summarized by people with certain practical experience. If you have no practical experience, can you determine whether it is true or false?

For example, looking at the gloss method, experienced people can indeed see some tricks, which are the result of years of practical experience; newbies who have just entered the industry cannot see it, they can only see that jade reflects light; some people can see a little difference, but are not sure whether they are right; most people can't even distinguish between glass gloss and oily gloss, so how can they identify the authenticity of jade based on the gloss.

Another example is to look at the fly wings to distinguish real and fake jadeite. Fly wings are an important feature of A-grade jadeite. Not to mention whether you can tell what fly wings are, the presence of fly wings means that the jadeite is of average quality and the jadeite crystal grains are relatively coarse. If the quality of jadeite is good, fly wings will not be seen, and the results of measurements using the same method will be biased.

Therefore, these methods cannot be learned in a short time. As mentioned before, other methods such as burning hair and water drop method are not reliable at all.

So I feel that these are all like the moon in the water, flowers in the mirror, and clouds and mist. If you like to find some merchants who allow you to try on the products, or just buy them directly, if you are not sure, the simplest and most brutal way is to go to a qualified appraisal agency for inspection, which only costs tens or hundreds of dollars. If there are any problems after the inspection, just return them directly.

This is the most scientific identification method, and you can find more jade knowledge.
