The jade piece I’m sharing today was specially customized for a jade friend whose zodiac sign was the Rooster. It was for his natal Buddha, Acalanatha ! The customized raw material is a piece of cold-toned black jadeite, which looks reserved and inconspicuous, but has an independent and otherworldly temperament that attracts people unconsciously. Then take a closer look at the quality of the material. Although it is pitch black on the outside, as long as there is a beam of light, the rich and bright emerald green color inside cannot be hidden, and it rushes to show its unique charm to the world. It’s just that the overall size of the material is relatively thick, so it’s obviously a bit difficult to let the light shine through it completely. However, this problem can be solved through subsequent carving design. After several communications with jade friends, we finally decided on the design theme of the work to make an Acalanatha pendant! Acala, also known as Acala Bodhisattva, is the patron saint of the zodiac Rooster. He can clear away obstacles for the rooster and help it to remain firm in its original aspirations and not be shaken by difficulties! The images of Acala currently circulating are quite varied. The Acala designed this time is a god-demon version. His eyes are sharp, his hair is standing on end, his left fang is pointing downwards, and his right fang is pointing upwards, looking angry. Holding a sword in the left hand and a rope in the right hand, it symbolizes cutting off all troubles in the world. Behind him there is a soaring auspicious dragon and blazing flames, which makes him look even more domineering and majestic! There is also a highlight on the back of the pendant, which is a proud rooster. It not only has the beautiful meaning of "the crowing of the rooster awakens the world", but also echoes the Acalanatha. In addition, the dragon and the chicken themselves belong to the so-called Liuhe Bureau in traditional Chinese metaphysics. The two zodiac signs are mutually beneficial and can promote the development of the wearer's fortune and help change his luck. After the overall design is determined, it is time for the jade carver to come into play. The jade carver holds an extremely fine drill and uses relief techniques to carefully carve out the image of Acala. The most exquisite part is the three-dimensional depiction of Acala's muscles. From the well-shaped abdominal muscles and protruding calf muscles to the ripples on the forehead caused by frowning, all of them are very challenging for the jade carver's skills. Therefore, it took a long time to finally present the finished product! Thanks to the extremely fine texture of the black jade itself, the craftsmanship is maximized. In jargon, it means it shows your workmanship! At the same time, by observing with a flashlight, it can be found that the problem of the material being too thick and the light being difficult to see through has been improved. Now under the light, we can clearly see the clean and delicate texture of the finished product!
