Jade is a type of jade. Because of its fine and moist luster, smooth and delicate surface, and bright color, it has been regarded as a treasure since ancient times. Nowadays, many people like to wear jade jewelry, but there are real and fake jade in the market. You need to be careful when purchasing. The following editor will introduce to you a simple method to identify real and fake jade. 1. Identify by weight. Since the density of jade itself is relatively large, we can put jade in the hand and move it up and down a few times. If we feel a heavy downward pressure, it may be real jade. When you hold fake jade in your hand, it will feel light and airy, without any downward pressure. This is a good identification method for medium-sized jadeite. 2. Identify real jade by its hardness. The hardness of jade is very high. We can use sharp nails, knives or other hard iron objects to scratch or scrape the surface of jade. If it is real jade, the surface of jade will feel slippery and will not leave any scratches. If fake jade is scratched by a hard object, its surface will be scratched, leaving obvious scratches on the surface. 3. To identify by the sound made by knocking, we can tie the jade with a rope, then pick up the rope with our hands to hang the jade in the air, and then gently knock on the jade with a hardwood stick. If it is a genuine product, the sound made after knocking will be very crisp. If it is fake jade, the sound it makes when knocked will be dull. 4. Identify real jade by its surface color and gloss. The surface feels very smooth to the touch and appears very shiny under the sun. The internal patterns are also very delicate and give a cool feeling. Fake jade will feel rough to the touch, the surface is not very smooth, the color appears dull, and there may be bubbles inside. 5. To identify by soaking in hot water, we can put the jade in boiling water and see if there is any color loss in the water after a period of time. Or we can rub the jade with cloth to see if any color falls off. If it is real jade, it will not lose color. Some fake jadeite that has been dyed will have the dye soaked away after being soaked in hot water, resulting in obvious discoloration. 6. Use a magnifying glass to observe the cut surface. For some jadeite with cuts, you can use a high-power magnifying glass to observe the cut. Real jadeite will have obvious irregular cracks on the cut surface, and you can also see the delicate internal structure. When you look at the cut surface of fake jadeite under high magnification, you will see that the cut is still bright and shiny. This is obviously fake jadeite that has been artificially processed.
