How complex is purple jade? That's it.

Purple jade is also called "violet". Most of the time, the color is lighter, and dark purple is rare.

"Nine out of ten spring violets are wood" means that more than 90 percent of violets have a relatively coarse texture and poor water head.

There are two points to note when purchasing:

1. When viewed under yellow light, violets appear darker purple.

2. Most violets will appear darker purple in photos or videos taken with mobile phones.

According to different tones, violets can be divided into: blue purple, pink purple, eggplant purple, and spring color.

1. Blue-purple

The purple has a bluish tint and the color concentration is deeper than pink purple and eggplant purple, but the color is usually unevenly distributed.

When observed with the naked eye, the base color is white, and the blue-purple particles are distributed in dot-like patterns, giving the appearance of white surrounding purple, which is called "white enveloping purple".

The granular structure of blue-purple jadeite is often coarser in grains, with obvious jade properties, poor water head, and is mostly opaque to translucent.

2. Pink and purple

The color is pinkish purple, sometimes with more pink than purple tones, and the color is lighter but more evenly distributed.

The grains are relatively fine, the grain boundaries are not very obvious, and the structure is somewhat similar to that of glutinous jadeite.

Pink purple jadeite often has the characteristics of an icy base, with fewer impurities, a cleaner base, and is mostly translucent.

3. Eggplant Purple

Eggplant purple mostly has a gray tone, the color is evenly distributed, but the color depth varies.

It has better transparency and often has the characteristics of an icy bottom.

Most eggplant purple jadeites have a fine structure, with fine to medium grains, and often contain fine needle-shaped and fibrous gray inclusions, which may be the reason why it has a gray tone.

4. Spring color

The irregular distribution of green in the purple jade base is called "Spring Color".

Generally, the green color in a purple base is relatively light, which is what the jargon says “it’s hard to produce high green color from a lotus root powder base”.

The transparency of spring-colored materials is mostly not high, mostly opaque to translucent.

Generally speaking, purple jadeite with rich purple color, fine texture and high transparency is very rare, and we need more realistic considerations.
