The hardness of jade can reach 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, while the hardness of glass is only 5. Jade can definitely scratch glass, but something that can scratch glass is not necessarily jade.

Some people say that my jade was passed down from the older generation, so it must be authentic, because technology was not as advanced as it is now and it could not be faked. In fact, fake jade was the most common in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China.
