Do you understand the white cotton and skin of jade?

What is white cotton?

White cotton refers to the translucent, slightly transparent white minerals that appear in patches, stripes, filaments, and ripples inside jade. The main white mineral

The composition is nepheline, followed by nepheline, analcime and some gas-liquid inclusions, which are impurities in jade and seriously affect the quality and beauty of jade.

View. Its existence will greatly affect the price of jadeite. There is also white cotton between green and green, which may also be jadeite itself. This is mainly due to the green color.

It is caused by uneven cloth.

What is the skin of jade?

The vast majority of jade raw materials have skin, and even top-grade jade also has skin. The skin of jade is formed by weathering of the jade raw stone during transportation.

The colors of the skin are: black, gray, yellow, brown, light yellow, white, etc. The formation of the skin color is a combination of two geological actions, namely, the external oxidation of jade causes iron hydroxide to penetrate into the tiny micro-cracks on the surface of jade, and then interacts with the impurity elements under the surface of jade. Based on the color, density, glossiness, and convexity and concavity of the skin, one can roughly estimate the internal color of the jade raw material, the quality of the water head, the quality of the bottom, the age of the jade, and the number of cracks. If the skin appears dense and smooth, it usually indicates that its internal transparency is good and there are few impurities; if the surface of the skin appears to have an inconspicuous moss-like substance, it often reflects that there may be green inside; if the surface of the skin appears uneven and rough, it indicates that there are many internal cracks, loose texture, and poor water content. For example, if the color of the jadeite changes greatly and there are stripes and patches like black ringworm, you should pay attention to the possibility of green appearing. Black-skinned black sand contains a lot of impurities such as iron. Even if there is green in it, most of it is bluish green. If you feel fine sand falling off the yellow and white sand skin after it is put into water, it generally means that the water head is sufficient. The brown skin is called yellow eel skin. Generally, the better the skin is. If the skin is tender and has lichen and black stripes, it shows that the water inside is good and may be high emerald. There is a lot of knowledge about the skin of jade, and it requires comprehensive judgment to estimate the situation inside.
