Use a thin layer of yellow mist to carve landscape-themed pendants, and the finished product is also beautiful

If we can dig out the characteristics of ordinary quality jade materials and make use of them, sometimes we can get a good finished jade product. Although the natural quality of such a finished product, such a finished product, is not high, it is very distinctive and the style is unique. Compared with the same kind of products on the market, it is also a good choice.

This is a piece of jade material mailed to me by a jade friend for carving. Let's analyze the quality of the material first: As you can see from the picture, there is a very thin yellow fog layer on the surface of the material. The quality of the jade inside can be analyzed from the perspective of water quality - the material is old, but the water is not long, the base is delicate, oily green, and has large white cotton. In general, this material can be considered a special material, and the direction of carving depends on how to utilize this yellow fog layer to create.

By shining a strong flashlight, you can see that the yellow fog layer is not thick. Only the middle, upper right corner and bottom parts are slightly thicker, while the other parts are very thin. After communicating with jade friends, we decided to make a landscape pendant to preserve the yellow fog layer as much as possible.

The jade material has a certain thickness, and medium relief is used in the carving technique. The middle part with a thick yellow fog layer is decorated with two coconut trees, and the leaf lines are painted with shallow carving to retain the yellow fog layer as much as possible; the yellow fog on the top is decorated with the sun and distant mountains. Through the changes in details of distance and nearness, and the combination of virtual and real techniques, this layer of yellow fog is like a sunset, spreading from the distant mountains to the foreground, which is very poetic.

The quality of the jade is average and its shape is irregular, so no water diversion is done. Instead, a landscape pattern is shallowly carved on the back of the jade to echo the front, achieving a complete combination of "front and back" themes.

Through meticulous carving, the designed pattern has been perfectly presented on the jade.

Oftentimes, the level of refinement of the carved pattern is related to the quality of the jade. Jade with good quality and age can be worked very finely, and the details that one wants to express can be carved delicately and minutely, just like the high ice Guanyin statue we see, where even each strand of hair can be carved clearly. If it is jadeite of average quality, there is usually no need for such fine work. On the one hand, it is impossible to do so (if the quality of the jadeite is not good enough and fine work is forced upon it, the material will easily break). On the other hand, even if these details are carved out, the work will be removed by polishing.

Jade carvings with medium to high relief craftsmanship are generally polished to a full gloss. The polishing effect is quite good. After all, this old jade has a delicate base, so the polishing effect is very good, and the yellow fog layer also shows the water quality after polishing.

Although jadeite like this is not as good as high-end jadeite, it is unique and is also a good choice. What do you think?
