Which aspects should we consider when evaluating the color of jadeite?

Jade has extremely rich colors. People in the industry often say that there are “one hundred and eight colors”, including green, purple, red, yellow, blue, white, black, gray, etc. Each color directly affects the value of jade. Among them, green has the highest value, followed by purple, then red and yellow. Gray has a "dirty" feeling and is a demerit color, which most people don't like.

When looking at the color of jadeite, what aspects should we start from?

Green: saturated, rich, and neither biased nor evil

Green is the most valuable color in jade, but it is based on the quality of the water. If the quality of the water is poor, the value of the jade will not be too high even if it is full green.

When looking at green jadeite, the most important thing to look at is the color saturation and richness. The most taboo is black or gray, which makes it look "dirty", have a color bias, or have an "evil" color. If there is white, the green will be diluted, and the saturation will decrease accordingly, and the value of such green jadeite will be much lower. If the green is yellowish or bluish, these are acceptable and do not affect the value much.

Purple: Delicate and rich

Purple is also called "spring color" and "violet". Jadeite with both green and purple is called "spring color". The output of purple jade is higher than that of red jade, the blocks are larger, and most of them have a lotus root powder ground. The crystal grains are usually coarser and the transparency is lower. At present, the price of purple jadeite with fine quality and rich color is rising rapidly, and violet with better texture is the best among them.

Red: Pay attention to transparency, don't "burn red"

Red jadeite is more valuable than yellow jadeite, is much rarer in quantity, and has a richer, more beautiful color. We need to understand that only those red jadeites that are good quality and transparent are valuable. For example, ring faces, flower pieces, and peace buckles made of such red jadeites are rare and good things with good appreciation potential, except for the "burned red" ones, because although the "burned red" red jadeite has a uniform layer of red on the surface, it lacks spiritual energy.

Yellow: transparent and bright

Generally speaking, yellow will only become an advantage of jadeite when the jade is transparent, the texture is fine, and the yellow color is rich and beautiful. However, the dull yellow color and poor water content become the shortcomings of jadeite, which is called "looking dirty" in the jargon. But here is a little trick, if there are yellow spots or yellow spots on it, it proves that the jade is natural.

blue

The blue color of jadeite is divided into oily green and ink blue. The "blue flowers" in the orchid jadeite are ink blue.

Jadeite with good quality and floating blue flowers, such as glass-type and ice-type blue flowers, are also classic jadeite masterpieces. The "blue flowers" are lively and elegant, very artistic, and are rare masterpieces. Experts call the oily green jadeite "blue water", which tends to be black and gray, and the color is relatively dark, and the wearing effect will be worse.

Black Jade

Black jade is a rare variety of jade. Its double colors are solemn and mysterious. It is loved by more and more people and has become one of the first choices for many people. Good quality black jade has a fine texture, dense and uniform structure, good light transmittance. It is as black as ink, but also has a hint of emerald green, which appears black, with no obvious flaws or defects. Such black jade is very expensive.

Colorful Jade

Colorful jade has beautiful colors, is difficult to create, and has great craftsmanship and aesthetic value. In today's jade market, good products are indeed becoming less and less. Two-color jade is more popular, while three-color and multi-color jade is very rare.
