Do you know how to identify jadeite?

To identify jadeite, you can tap it with wooden chopsticks. If the sound it makes is crisp and pleasant, it means it is real. You can also scratch it with a knife, or weigh it in your hand. If there are no scratches on the surface of the jade, or it feels heavy, it means the jade is real.

Listen to the sound

To identify the authenticity of jadeite, you can listen to the sound. Hang the jadeite with a rope and then gently tap it with wooden chopsticks. If the sound made by jade is crisp and pleasant, it means that the jade is real. If the sound is dull and hoarse, it means the jade is fake.

Hardness test

Jadeite is the hardest jade, with a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7. When you scratch the surface of jade with a knife or other sharp objects, there will be no scratches on the surface of real jade. If you can scratch it, it means the jade is fake.

Weigh

Artificial jade is mostly made of glass, while the specific gravity of natural jade is greater than that of jade. Therefore, when you weigh jadeite of the same size in your hand, the real jadeite will give you a stronger feeling of heaviness, while the imitation jadeite will not have any feeling of heaviness or will not feel that strong.
