The raw stones from the Damakan quarry have a thicker skin. There are mountain stones, water stones, and half mountain and half water stones. The water stones have all been washed and weathered by river water. This process is repeated, causing the looser skin on the outside to fall off, making the stones appear smoother. There are many water stones in the Damakan mine, and the sizes are generally small, ranging from a few dozen grams to 9 kg. The jadeite from the Damakan mine has a thicker skin, is gray in color, and has a mixed skin and flesh. There must be fog under the skin. What I want to share with you today is a piece of high-quality ice-type clear material bought by a beautiful lady. The carving technique was so ingenious that it transformed it into the most beautiful incarnation. Let’s first take a look at the raw stone. This small piece of material comes from the famous Dama Kanchang Kou Shui Stone. It should not be difficult for jade lovers to see that this raw stone is a high-ice-type material, and the jade quality can be clearly seen. The shape of the material is irregular, with a layer of white fog on the surface and a slight hint of clear water green. Except for the shape, other aspects of the material are perfect, without any cracks or dirty spots, and the layer of red fog is the icing on the cake. The first thing a general sculptor would think of when getting this piece of material is probably to trim the material into a regular shape and make it into a pendant. The small pieces cut off can be used to make ring faces. This method is probably what most jade carvers would do. But the sculptor had a brilliant idea. He believed that doing so would be a waste of the material's characteristics. Every good piece of raw stone is a gift given to us by nature, and we must have a heart that respects nature. After some thought, he decided to retain the characteristics of the raw stone to the greatest extent and make use of the layer of red mist color. When I shone the light on it, I saw that it was still a little dirty inside, so I cleaned it carefully. After cleaning up the flaws, the sculptor designed a theme of a flying dragon breaking out of its shell based on the shape of the material. The pretty red mist part is designed to be the wings of a flying dragon. The little flying dragon that has just hatched from the shell is chubby and cute. Aren’t these tender pink red wings particularly suitable for the characteristics of a newborn little dragon? The sculptor's use of this beautiful color is truly magical. After the rough draft was completed, the image of a flying dragon was already eager to try. The next step is to slowly carve out the details. After a long wait, it was finally completed. The jade carver named this work "Birth". Let's appreciate the finished product. Finally, the sculptor told us that we cannot create jade. Jade is a gift given to us by nature. We must respect nature and cherish every piece of raw stone left to us by nature. Only in this way can we reap unexpected surprises.
