Do you like jade? What are the reasons for investing and collecting jadeite!

Do you like jade? What are the reasons for investing and collecting jadeite!

At jade auctions held around the world over the years, the most eye-catching and popular scene is the transaction of jadeite items. A jadeite necklace was sold for HK$80 million, a jadeite ring face was sold for HK$18.5 million, a jadeite bracelet was sold for HK$19.8 million... Each time, the price was sold at a sky-high price that exceeded the historical record. While people are rushing to buy and collect high-end jadeite, many jade lovers lament: Jadeite is becoming more and more expensive, while good jadeite is becoming more and more scarce! Why is the collection value of high-end jadeite higher than other precious jewellery? That is because jade has incomparable charm and extremely high appreciation potential:

Jade comes in green, red, yellow, purple, blue, black, etc., among which green has the greatest variation in tone. There are dozens of shades including imperial green, sun green, gold silk green, yellow sun green, apple green, melon green, oily green and gray-green. Bright green is divided into colors from one to ten, with ten being the most valuable; with each additional color, the value differs greatly. The bright green color, perfect emerald green and unique design make it the most popular among people in the world. The bright green color of jadeite is unmatched by any other gemstone except high-grade emerald. Bright red and yellow jadeite, through creative color carving, express auspicious meanings and are also very popular among people.

The beautiful violet color, carved from the raw material of emerald green, is called "Spring Color"; the carvings made from the double-color materials of purple and jadeite have the meaning of bright red and purple that the Chinese people love most. If the light and elegant green color coexists with emerald green, jadeite and purple on the same piece of material, the sculptures carved into three dimensions with creativity and color will be unique and rare, whether in the raw material or in the exquisite finished product. The three colors of green emerald, red jadeite and violet have been regarded as the symbol of "happiness, wealth, longevity and good fortune" since ancient times; while the four colors of green emerald, red jadeite, violet and blue have the beautiful meaning of "happiness, wealth, longevity and joy", which are very consistent with the Chinese aesthetic taste and cultural psychology that combines tradition and modernity, and also have very high collection value. The variety of jade colors provides a wide range of choices for jade collectors.

Because jade is a collection of various substances and was formed hundreds of millions of years ago under better geological conditions, it is not only warm but also relatively transparent, surpassing any other jade in the world. There are dozens of types of jadeite, including glass, ice, egg white, glutinous, lychee, bean, and dry green. The glass type is the best, crystal clear and flawless.

"Water head" is a special term referring to the transparency of jadeite, which means that jadeite is as transparent as water. It is divided into one to ten points of water: ten points of water refers to glass type, seven to nine points of water refers to ice type, and so on. A bit of water head is worth a thousand gold coins, the better the water head, the higher the value. Because the crystals that make up each piece of jade have different coarseness and size, diverse shapes, and are combined in different ways, the transparency varies greatly. This is why jade has a variety of types and water contents: some are as clear as water, some are transparent as ice, some are like egg white, and some are as dense as porcelain... People not only appreciate the unique crystal clearness and warmth of jade, but also appreciate its beautiful and attractive color. It is precisely because of the colorful colors, diverse water quality, and rich carved patterns of jade that the diversity of jade finished products is created.

Since ancient times, sculpture schools have been divided into southern and northern schools. The southern style is characterized by meticulous carving, clever hollowing, delicate patterns and designs, and elegant and exquisite appearance; the northern style is characterized by rough and bold, three-dimensional round carving, simple carving, and grand appearance. The masterpieces of both schools vividly demonstrate the perfect combination of oriental culture and natural features.

Jade is only produced in Myanmar. After hundreds of years of crazy mining, its resources are on the verge of exhaustion, and high-grade old pit raw materials are difficult to mine. The old mine materials that can be seen being auctioned now are stocks from more than ten years ago, but they are also very scarce. At the same time, due to the formation process of jade, the higher-grade old pit materials have more skin. Some rough materials have no "windows" at auction, and some have "small windows" of one or two centimeters. It is impossible to see how much jade is inside, nor can it see the changes in the water color inside, or whether it can "increase in value", so it is necessary to "gamble on stones". Among all the precious stones in nature, only jade raw materials need to be gambled.

There is no unified pricing in the world. Almost all gemstones can be priced by weight and grade. For example, diamonds are priced based on the four Cs. Only jadeite does not have a unified pricing. Because the color, water quality and fineness of carved patterns of jade vary greatly, each piece is different, which depends on people's understanding and vision of the above-mentioned characteristics of jade. This also makes jade more stimulating and attractive for investment. Spending hundreds of thousands to buy a piece of jade may reveal its potential value to be tens of millions! The best example is that the transaction volume of jadeite at auctions over the years has reached tens of millions or even hundreds of millions of yuan per piece.

The raw material distribution centers of jadeite in the world include: Yangon, Mandalay, Myitkyina in Myanmar, Chiang Mai in Thailand, Hong Kong, Guangdong and Yunnan in China. The finished jadeite distribution centers around the world include: in addition to the above-mentioned raw material distribution centers in Myanmar and Thailand which are also finished product distribution centers, there are also China and Singapore, and China is now the world's largest finished jadeite distribution center. There are many distribution centers in China, which are widely distributed, mainly in Guangdong, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Yunnan, Fujian, Henan, Macau and Taiwan. There are gambling stone auctions and finished product auctions in each of the above-mentioned types of distribution centers and in every city, and the market development prospects are very broad.

No one in the world can control the production and sales of jade, and the price of jade raw materials has increased more than a hundred times in the past twenty years. Therefore, the price of high-end jade products is marked by sky-high auction prices, and no other gem has such a good investment prospect. The main reason why the jade market is optimistic is that resources are on the verge of depletion, old pit raw materials are becoming increasingly scarce, prices have skyrocketed, high-end old pit jade finished products are becoming fewer and fewer and the room for appreciation is getting higher and higher, which has rapidly increased people's enthusiasm for jade.

Gems are single-substance crystals, such as diamonds, rubies, etc. Because the color and transparency of the gemstone are more uniform, it is easier to find a pair of the same, or more. Jadeite has many variations, and it is very difficult to find exactly the same jadeite. Flawless diamonds, rubies and sapphires are easy to find as long as you want to buy them, but flawless jade is extremely hard to come by. When you see the jade you like, you should buy it as much as possible, otherwise the jade you like will become increasingly difficult to find and you will never be able to find it by chance.

Jade is a non-renewable resource. The raw materials will only become less and less, and the overall price will naturally become higher and higher. In the short term, the overall price comparison of jade is very elastic, which is a very sensitive issue for jade merchants who make short-term investments. Merchants can only survive and develop by making short-term purchases and sales and increasing the flow rate of jade products and funds. But for jade wearers who are end-consumers, once they own it, it will belong to them forever, so there is no need to worry too much about short-term fluctuations in jade prices.
