Why does the Jade Guanyin have her eyes closed and doesn’t wear shoes?

Why does Guanyin close her eyes?

Why is Guanyin barefoot?

Legend has it that Guanyin originally wore shoes, but when she was in Putuo Mountain, one pair of shoes was used to fight off a rebellious turtle spirit, and the other was used to save a meritorious green snake.

In addition, Guanyin felt that "Putuo Mountain is a pure land of Buddhism, so there is nothing wrong with walking barefoot." From then on, Guanyin became barefoot. This does not mean that Guanyin does not like cleanliness. On the contrary, it is a symbol of Guanyin's noble nature and her purity.
