When we talk about jade, we always talk about its quality, color, workmanship and weight, but some parts are overlooked and rarely noticed! Today I will talk to you about these easily forgotten aspects of jadeite. The first is the shape of jade. Most of us rarely consider its shape when buying jade. Generally, the shape of rings, bracelets, etc. will not change. Generally, when we mention the shape, we are referring to pendants, egg-shaped jade jewelry, etc. In addition to the basic conditions such as quality, water color, shape also has a crucial impact on mid-to-high-end jadeite. For jadeite of the same color and type, experts will pay several times more for a piece that is full, round, regular, symmetrical and beautiful in shape. The second point is the light. As the saying goes, "Don't look at jade without sunlight." The best time to look at jade is one hour before and after 12 noon. Since the sun is the strongest at 12 o'clock, it is easy to get dizzy if you look at things for a long time at this time, so you can't choose this time. There is plenty of sunlight one hour before and after but the light is not too strong. It is best to compare it indoors now, use a 15x magnifying glass to observe, look for flaws and cracks, and then see whether the color is correct, whether it is bright and sunny, and how long the water head is. Finally, there is the uniformity of the jade and the uniformity of its species. The difference in grain size in different parts of jadeite leads to differences in species. The quality and water of jadeite complement each other and can never be separated. The size and density of jadeite grains determine its transparency. Transparency includes two aspects: internal transparency and surface gloss. The unevenness of the species can be discovered by the difference in transparency, that is, from the perspective of naked eye observation, the unevenness of the species is determined by observing whether the transparency is consistent. Uniformity of color tone. Hue refers to the tendency of a certain color shown in the overall appearance of jadeite. Common tones of jade include colorless, light green, gray, etc., and the colorless glass variety is the special case with the most uniform tone. The color tone is affected by other factors such as large amounts of impurities, cotton and various colors, and its uniformity is more or less reduced, among which color has the greatest impact. There are only two situations for the distribution of jadeite color: distributed on the surface or interwoven deeply between species. When the hue and attached color repel each other, conflict is inevitable. Dirty and messy colors erode color tone and disrupt balance and harmony most obviously. In fact, the color of jade can be considered as the mottled or dirty color scattered on the surface of jade. It requires delicate conception and material selection in accordance with the color when carving to meet aesthetic needs. Failed design and carving cannot save it from the fate of affecting the color tone.
