Free Guanyin is also known as Guanyin Bodhisattva or Guanzizai Bodhisattva. Different from the general upright or meditating Guanyin statues, the Free Guanyin is squatting with her right leg bent, her left foot lightly stepping on the lotus leaf, her center of gravity falling on the left hip, her right hand slightly raised and tilted, with her left hand as the support point, unrestrained and free.

The original name of Guanyin was "Water-Moon Guanyin". The statue of Guanyin broke the convention, and her posture highlighted the smooth lines and graceful figure of Guanyin. People thus forgot her original name and affectionately called her Guanyin.
