You may not know: Jadeite inlay process

1. Cold mounting: After the metal bracket is completely manufactured, the last step is to mount the gemstone on the bracket without any subsequent processing such as polishing or gold plating. This production method is generally used for the inlay of natural, unheat-treated red and blue sapphires and emeralds. Because these gemstones have not been heat treated, if they are not cold mounted but gold plated, polished, etc. after mounting, the gemstones will be easily exposed to the heat and may burst.

2. Super stone - also known as super diamond, is an artificial simulation of the natural geological, atmospheric pressure and other physical conditions of diamond formation. It is a synthetic diamond with a hardness of 10.8 and is difficult to distinguish with the naked eye. This type of diamond once dazzled the old wizard in the pawn shop a few years ago. Its fire, hardness, cutting, etc. are not inferior to natural diamonds. Since it was artificially synthesized, its weight generally did not exceed 2 carats at the time. However, since it was cheaper than natural diamonds, the craftsmanship was bolder when cutting it, and sometimes the finished product was more decorative than natural diamonds.

3. Handmade pattern making - all handmade, easy to make the style created by the designer, generally more complicated, time-consuming, and the price is relatively expensive, even several times more expensive. Wax model making - first make a shape by hand, and then make the wax model into a mold. In this way, when the gem is sent for processing, the consumer's setting cost is relatively low. As for the quality, it depends on the craftsmanship of the craftsman. Generally, the finished products made by good craftsmen are very delicate in details, and there are no harsh protrusions at the intersection of metals. If you have seen the production process of a craftsman, it will be very easy to tell which one was used when you see the finished products made by the two techniques in the future.

4. Nail setting - the name of a gem setting technique, nail setting.

Processing process

(1) Design: Jewelry designers draw the designs they have in mind and hand them over to skilled jewelry craftsmen to complete their work.

(2) Starting plate: This means making a jewelry sample by hand, and welding a nozzle rod at an appropriate position to ensure that the metal liquid can be smoothly poured in during casting, so as to serve as a casting sample. In some cases, the relief technique is also used to directly use wax carving to create the prototype of the jewelry, which is called a wax board.

(3) Molding: The jewelry sample is clamped between rubber sheets, the raw rubber sheets are inserted into a pre-selected aluminum frame, and the pressed sample is filled with shredded rubber sheets. After pressing in the rubber using a hot press, the film is cut open with a scalpel according to certain technical rules, and the jewelry sample is taken out to make the so-called rubber mold.

(4) Moulding: First fix the wax tree in the casting cage, place it on a vacuum machine to evacuate the air, take it out and pour it into the casting cage, then steam the wax and place it in an oven to bake the gypsum. The gypsum is baked and made into a gypsum mould by gradually increasing the temperature. The metal material and the filling are heated in a gold melting furnace. When the alloy is completely melted and stirred, the molten gold is poured into the plaster of a vacuum casting machine or a centrifugal casting machine. After cooling, the jewelry blank is made.

(5) Moulding: Moulding refers to the process of carefully repairing the jewelry blank.

(6) Stone setting: After the mold is made, the entire jewelry processing process can be completed through the same stone setting, polishing, cleaning, typing, printing, electroplating, sandblasting and other artistic processing as hand-made craftsmanship.

(7) Polishing: The surface of the jewelry after polishing should be extremely bright, giving people a dazzling beauty.

(8) Electroplating: Use platinum water (containing the element "rhodium") to electroplate the surface of jewelry to make the surface of the jewelry whiter (white) and brighter.
