Many people think that translucent and pure jade is good jade. In fact, it is not. Jade is a naturally formed mineral and is bound to contain impurities. Upon careful observation, consumers will find that the interior of the jade gives people the feeling of being layered and has some patterns. These are called stone flowers, also known as asbestos, which is an important criterion for identifying jade. A-grade jade also has stone flowers that are not very evenly distributed. The luster is emitted from the inside to the outside and is very soft and moist. Simply put, jadeite of original stone and color is A-grade jade. So what are the important characteristics for identifying A-grade jadeite? "Fly wings" is one of the important signs for identifying A-grade jadeite, but it is not the only sign. There are also certain tricks when observing "fly wings": first, you should observe it on the reflective surface of the jadeite; second, the observation area should be avoided as much as possible on the well-polished areas; third, when observing the jadeite bracelet, you should observe the inner circle. The "orange peel effect" is that when A-grade jadeite is observed through reflection on the polished surface, it will have bumps and depressions of different sizes and directions similar to those of orange peel (Figure 2). The "orange peel effect" is only prominent in A-grade jadeite, and the boundary between the ridges and troughs is a gradual and smooth transition; in B-grade jadeite, the ridges and troughs are not smoothly transitioned, but separated by a crack, like a spider web-like crack pattern, called "acid etching pattern", which is obviously different from the "orange peel effect". Look at the unique structure of jadeite: When the jade grains are coarse and uneven in size, the bean-like structure of the jade can be seen with the naked eye. This is what is often called "bean-type" jade. When the jade grains are small, this phenomenon is not very obvious. Look at the luster of jadeite: The characteristic of natural A-grade jade is that it has a distinct glass luster, just like the reflection of glass surface, which is particularly prominent in high-grade jade; in some inferior jade, it has a waxy luster. Look at the color of jadeite: Jade comes in many colors, the most valuable of which is green jade, so various artificially colored jades are flooding the market. Dyed jade lacks luster and gives people a "dry" or "water-deficient" feeling. Although the surface of the coated jade is also very smooth, it does not have the orange peel effect and has a sticky feeling. Look at the transparency of jadeite: Transparency means "water", so sufficient "water" means good transparency, clarity, luster and crystal clearness, and it looks like "eyes full of tears" or "watery feeling". Moisture content can also be measured by the depth and breadth of light that can penetrate into the jade material. 2 points of water means that the depth that light can reach in the jade material is 2 points, about 6 mm. It is also often used as a metaphor. The water that is more than translucent is called glass water, the water that is almost translucent is called jade water, and the water that is delicate, transparent and has a high hardness is called iron water. Opaque or low transparency is called waterless or water-dried. fcgc66 fcpf18 |
