After reading what I have said about the tricks of jadeite inlay, you will have the urge to take down the loose jadeite you bought and take a look at it with your own eyes. Have you ever thought about why jadeite inlay must have a sealed bottom? Telling you the answer directly has three functions. First, if you wear it directly, you need to drill a hole or braid a rope, and it will look light or too small to have any texture or the feeling of being a jewel. When we make it look more shiny and luxurious through inlay, especially with a heavy texture, it will of course look better when worn. The second function is to increase the degree of color. Many jades include full green, violet, red jade and yellow jade, as well as some that are even more excessively good. At this time, a layer of glue and a layer of color will be applied to the bottom of the jade stone. This method can even change the color of the jade stone. In other words, an egg-shaped jade that looks like it has no color can eventually be inlaid with an ice-type imperial green effect. Just imagine how big the gap will be. The third function is to cover up defects. For example, if a piece of jade is too thin and the back is hollowed out like an eggshell, I need to cover it with a backing so that you can't see it. Or if the jade itself has some cracks on the back, or some particularly ugly cotton or sand holes, I can use the backing effect to inlay them and cover them up so you can't see them. More conscientious merchants will open a cover on the back of the jade when setting it. You can open this small cover and see what's on the back. But if it is a big cover, you can see it clearly. If it is a small cover, or if only a small hole is opened, so when it comes to choosing jade for setting, my personal opinion is that it is best to buy the loose stone and set it yourself. You can see the loose stone and the entire setting process. Wouldn't that make you feel reassured?
