In the jade industry, there are four words that describe the positive evaluation of jade color: thick, positive, yang, and harmonious. What do they mean respectively? Let’s take a look together. "Thick" and "deep" are not the same concepts. “Deep” means the color tends to be darker and blacker, while “rich” means the color has a higher brightness while keeping the hue unchanged. "Positive" means the color should be positive, pure green, without any other tones mixed in. Normally, due to some slight variations in the components of jade, its color will also change to a certain extent, resulting in different color casts. For example, some are yellowish, so-called boxwood green, some are bluish spinach green, some are dark melon green, some are grayish green, some are both blue and grayish oily green, and so on. Some people say that "you can't see the green without sunlight", which means that the observation of green jade should be carried out under sunlight, otherwise it is easy to lose color, and the original pure green will be seen as having a certain degree of color cast. However, too strong sunlight is not conducive to color observation. People have also pointed out that the jade with better color often seen in Myanmar will feel darker in color when it is transported to the north. The reason is that Myanmar is at a low latitude and the sunlight is too strong. In addition, when observing the color of jade, do not look at it under strong light, otherwise. Under the influence of the yellow tone of the light, the originally black and dark colors will also appear to be very green. "Yang" refers to bright colors, and gorgeous and small colors are also called yangqiao. Don't be too dark, but too light, which means the color saturation should be higher. "Uniform" means the color should be uniform. Jade is a polycrystalline aggregate of minerals, so its color is often not very uniform. According to the uniformity of color distribution, experts generally divide it into five levels; namely, uniform, relatively uniform, fairly uniform, uneven and mottled. Of course, the more uniform the color, the better. People usually call a carving or jade bracelet that contains jadeite, emerald, ground or spring "Fu Shen Miao Shou" and regard it as a good color variety. In other words, jadeite has different colors, but as long as it can achieve the four words "rich, positive, bright, and uniform", this piece of jade is top-grade jadeite, although sometimes the ingenuity of craftsmen can make colorful jadeite into exquisite carvings. But even if the price is high, it is obtained by trickery and is not as solid as the natural dignity of others.
