Check the crystallization of the skin material: Generally speaking, the coarse skin material of jade gravel has large crystals, loose structure, low hardness, and poor transparency, and is the inferior quality of jade; the fine skin material has small crystals, tight structure, fine texture, high hardness, and good transparency; the properties of the sand skin material are between the first two, and the quality varies greatly, but there is also good material among them.　

To check the crystal size of leather, in addition to visual inspection with the naked eye, you can also use water to check. The method is to put the jade gravel in water, wet it, then take it out and check whether the water on the surface dries up slowly. If it is dry and lumpy, it means that its crystals are coarse, the structure is loose, or there are many cracks and pores, and the texture is poor. On the contrary, it means that its crystals are small, the structure is dense, and the texture is good.

Check the green color: The amount of green and the quality of the color determine the quality and value of the jadeite, so pay attention by observing the signs of the green part inside the gravel showing on the surface. The amount of green is related to the shape and distribution characteristics of the green part. The green parts in jadeite that are concentrated in clusters and strips are more valuable. When this kind of green appears on the epidermis, it often appears in the form of clumps or lines, and sometimes in the form of flakes.

When green appears in large flakes on the epidermis, it is mostly epidermal green, and there is often no green inside; when green appears in lines or clusters on the epidermis, especially when the green lines exposed on the epidermis are symmetrically distributed, the green will extend inward and even run through the entire gravel. The value of the latter is naturally higher than that of the former. Therefore, there is a saying in the industry: "It is better to buy a line than a piece."
