How can you identify the authenticity of jadeite at home? I'll tell you 5 secrets, save them now

Preface

As we all know, the jade market has been getting hotter and hotter in recent years. We often hear that a piece of jade jewelry can be sold for tens of millions of yuan. Therefore, many unscrupulous merchants in the market are tempted by the huge profits and produce a large number of counterfeit jade to make a profit. These fake jades not only defraud consumers of their money, but also cause great harm to the human body. Therefore, quickly mastering the knowledge of jade identification has become a top priority for many jade players. After all, only by knowing how to identify jade can you avoid being deceived. Today, Jade World will teach you some simple methods to identify the authenticity of jade, and you can identify it yourself at home.

Look at the color

The color of natural jade is natural and unevenly distributed, with a natural transition between the colored and colorless parts, and colored roots. It is calm and not empty, and you will never get tired of looking at it. Jade that has been artificially processed will have its original optical properties changed due to the destruction of the jade structure, resulting in a lack of layering in the color distribution of jade, making it appear frivolous and unnatural.

Look for defects

For natural jadeite, because its formation process is long and arduous, most of them contain defects and have a yellow base color. As shown in the picture, these are the various defects that exist in natural A-grade jadeite.

Look at the surface

If you observe the surface of natural jade under magnification, it is impossible to be completely smooth. Generally, you can see small pits caused by external forces, and the orange peel effect caused by rapid polishing. However, on the surface of fake jade, these features are either absent, or acid-etched patterns like spider webs can be observed.

Look at the color root

Natural A-grade jadeite has a point or a line of slightly darker green, which gradually transitions to a relatively lighter green. The color is visible, the depth is inconsistent, and the distribution is uneven. The color boundary is obvious, also known as the "color root". The color of dyed jadeite is divergent and invisible, and it feels like it is floating on the surface. It is distributed in the surface like a silk screen, with blurred color boundaries and uniform tone. Color roots are a standard for judging the authenticity of the green color of jadeite. However, if it is high-end jadeite, the green is very uniform and there is no difference in depth, then it has no color roots. The color roots are similar to the jadeite properties. Too many will affect the quality and price, so they need to be considered simultaneously during identification and evaluation.

Look at the fluorescence reaction

Look at the color and internal structure of jadeite under ultraviolet light. Real natural jadeite has no fluorescent reaction under ultraviolet light. When unnatural jade is soaked in chemicals, a large amount of resin-like chemicals will remain inside the jade, which will produce a fluorescent reaction under the illumination of ultraviolet light.
