What is the “old glutinous is better than new icy” of jade?

"Old glutinous jade is better than new icy jade" is a phrase often heard in online micro-businesses and various live broadcast rooms. It means that the glutinous jade from old mines is of better quality than the icy jade from new mines. This sentence, at first glance, seems to make sense, but does it make sense?

To understand the meaning of this sentence, we must first understand what laonuo and xinbing mean. Lao glutinous refers to the glutinous variety from old mines, and Xinbing refers to the ice variety from new mines; but friends who are familiar with jade know that the age of jade is only related to the quality of the original stone, and has no direct relationship with the jade mining area. If it is not jadeite dug out from old mines, the quality of the water is good, and if it is not jadeite dug out from new mines, the quality of the water is poor. The oldest mining areas, such as Movangki and Lao Hpakant, also produce a lot of garbage materials, while the most famous new mining areas, such as Moshisa and Muna, also produce high-quality products that are well-known in the world;

Regardless of whether it is an old mine or a new mine, we cannot simply assume that ice jade is definitely of better quality and higher price than glutinous jade. Judging jadeite involves a very comprehensive set of factors, in addition to its type, another factor to consider is whether it has enough water. Is the base gray? What about color? What about cotton? How is the carving? What is the size? How perfect is it?

If a glutinous jade has fine texture, a clean base, and a very bright and rich green color, it is very likely to be much more valuable than an ice jade with obvious cotton and no green. So, when it comes to a piece of jade, which one is better, and which one is more expensive, between the glutinous and ice types, it depends entirely on its specific performance, and has nothing to do with whether it is an old mine or a new mine.

Those who shout about old pit ice type and old glutinous rice is better than new ice every day are just misleading. If they want to sell better quality water, they say old pit ice type. If they want to sell worse quality water, they say "old glutinous rice is better than new ice"!
