Many friends often ask: Are jadeite and jade the same thing? In fact, jadeite is a type of jade, also called jadeite. Jade is composed of many tiny jadeite minerals, which are bonded and intertwined with each other like small felts. They are very dense and strong, making jade both hard and tough. Jadeite contains an element called chromium, which makes it green. This color created by nature is bright and beautiful, as if it has life. Many people call jadeite the "king of jade". Jade culture in China has a history of more than 7,000 years, beginning in the Neolithic Age. Its history is earlier than that of Eastern cultural forms such as ceramics, writing, painting, sculpture, architecture, and silk, and it has hardly been interrupted in these 7,000 years. Looking around the world, there are several places, such as New Zealand and several South American countries, where jade culture has appeared in history, but it flourished for a short time and then ended. The only exception is China. It can be said that jade culture is one of the ancient cultures with the longest history and best represents Eastern civilization. In the eyes of Westerners, jade best represents Chinese culture and is the most mysterious. It is difficult for them to understand how the worship of a certain natural material could last for thousands of years. They like to hear their Chinese friends say that jade is spiritual and can bless its owner. When they come to China, they may buy some jade and go back to tell their family and friends: "We like diamonds, and Chinese people like jade." What exactly is jade? Xu Shen of the Eastern Han Dynasty gave a clear definition of jade in "Shuowen Jiezi": "Jade is the beauty of stone, and it has the five virtues." That is to say, beautiful rocks that possess the five virtues of jade can be called jade. The Confucian school, the mainstream of Chinese culture, has the highest evaluation of jade, believing that jade has the virtues of jade, and only when people possess these noble virtues of jade can they become gentlemen and achieve the highest realm of human beings. Therefore, a definition of jade, in addition to being "the most beautiful stone", should also possess the "five virtues" of jade. The current situation of the domestic high-end jade market is that supply exceeds demand. In recent years, jadeite has become a hot collectible and the market demand is growing. However, high-quality raw materials are becoming increasingly scarce. After decades of large-scale mining, several major jadeite mines in Myanmar are almost exhausted, and the price of raw stones continues to hit record highs: the Yangon Jadeite Rough Stone Public Auction in Myanmar had a turnover of 3 billion yuan in March 2010. By June, the total transaction price of a similar amount of stone had doubled, setting a new record of 7 billion yuan. This year, according to industry insiders, the Myanmar jade mines have been closed in October, so the price of jadeite raw stones will continue to soar, and the "crazy stone" has not yet ended. "There are many people competing for good stones, so the final auction price will definitely soar." At the Ruili raw stone public auction, a stone weighing 0.1kg with a reserve price of 1,000 yuan was selected by more than 20 bosses in just one morning. The staff told reporters that raw stones like this one from the famous Moshisha mine in Myanmar are particularly popular. "The jade materials from the old mines are generally better than those from the new mines, and the good jade materials are becoming less and less, so the public auction opening price of this kind of stone is often several times or even dozens of times the reserve price.
