Jewelry Jade Training-Identification Characteristics of C-grade Jade

In the jade market, we often hear people say that this is A grade, that is C grade, and what are the A grade, B grade and C grade jade. In fact, many people are quite clear about A-grade jade. A-grade jade refers to pure natural jade that has not been processed. However, regarding B-grade and C-grade jade, most people believe that all fake jade on the market are called B-grade or C-grade, which is actually wrong.

Our country stipulates that the jadeite on the market that has been acid-washed and filled with glue is called B-grade jadeite. That is, the jadeite is soaked in strong acid to clean the impurities in the jadeite, and then glue is filled into it to improve its transparency. C goods refer to dyed jade, that is to say, jade itself has no color, and we dye it red, yellow, green, purple, or with floating flowers, etc. This kind of jade is generally called C goods. However, there are relatively few pure C goods on the market. Generally, there are some B+C. That is to say, if it is dyed, it is already fake anyway, so it is better to clean it. Make it look better so it can sell better. When the quality inspection station issues a certificate, it usually won't say B or C goods. They will write how it was processed, such as acid-washed and glue-filled jade, or dyed jade. But in the remarks, they will indicate the common name: B goods or C goods.

Today, the editor will mainly introduce you to several identification characteristics of C-grade jade. You must learn to distinguish them when you see them in the jade market in the future.

What are the identification characteristics of C-grade jadeite?

01Color

The color of natural jade is called tangible colored root, which refers to the green color of jade. It will have shape, color, band or lump, and its boundary is very clear, and the color has a change in depth. If it is dyed jade, its color is generally distributed in the gaps between the crystal particles. The color will have a silk screen structure, and its boundary is very hazy, like this cloud.

02Fluorescence phenomenon

You can use ultraviolet fluorescence to irradiate it. When the ultraviolet light shines on it, the dye will glow. C-grade jadeite will fluoresce under the ultraviolet light.

03 Charles filter observation

We can use the Charles filter to observe that some of the early green-dyed jadeite will turn red under the light in the Charles filter, while natural green jadeite will not have this change. But everyone should pay attention to this point! Nowadays, many green dyes have been replaced with liquid dioxide. This dyed jade will not turn red under the Charles filter. So we have to pay attention to one thing. Under the Charles filter, if the color turns red, it means it is dyed. If it does not turn red, we have to use other methods to identify it.

04 Spectroscopic observation method

It can be observed through a spectroscope. The spectra of its spectroscope images are generally different. The green color of natural jadeite forms a separation spectrum, generally in the red area, there are two thin lines. If it is dyed jadeite, it is the spectrum of the dye, and its red area will have a wider black band.
