When shopping in a physical store, how can you quickly determine based on experience whether the jade jewelry is A or B grade?

China's jade culture has a long history. People have a special liking for jade jewelry and always hope to buy their favorite treasures.

Jade is not like gold; it has no pricing standard. There are both real and fake products in the market, and you still have to spend some time to buy genuine products at a fair price.

Hetian jade has different origins, including water material and mountain material; Nanhong has different origins, and whether it is injected with glue or not; Huanglong jade now also has different origins, and there are also fakes.

Not to mention jade, its "water" is deeper than the sea. Just the distinction between A-grade, B-grade, and C-grade goods is enough to give people a headache, let alone A plus C, B plus C, etc., which are even more confusing.

Today I will talk about some methods on how to judge and distinguish between A goods and B goods based on experience.

This problem is easier said than done and requires accumulation of experience. For those with experience, it's not difficult. As the saying goes, it is not difficult for those who know, but it is difficult for those who don’t know.

First of all, I have to point out that no one can judge by looking at the pictures, and those who say they can do it are usually bragging.

In other words, only by observing the actual objects can some methods and tricks to identify whether the jade is A-grade or B-grade jade be feasible. And there is no single quick method; it requires comprehensive judgment.

1. The feeling of density. Goods A are slightly heavier, while goods B are slightly lighter. For this, you need to weigh it with your hand first, provided that you have come into contact with many natural A-grade jade jewelry. Otherwise, you won’t be able to feel it even if you touch it.

2. Look at the thermal conductivity. Grade A products have strong thermal conductivity, while Grade B products have poor thermal conductivity. When you put the bracelet on your face, it will feel cold at first, but it will no longer be cold after about three seconds.

3. Listen to the sound. If you tap it gently, the A-grade jadeite will make a crisp and pleasant sound, while the B-grade jadeite will make a low, muffled sound. This method is more reliable and is also commonly used.

4. Look at the glossiness. The surface of Grade A jade has strong reflectiveness and a glassy luster; the surface of Grade B jade has a resinous luster and lacks spirituality. This method is also reliable.

5. Look at the color. The color of Grade A jade is natural and layered, with green showing in the form of mineral spots and stripes, often with color roots, giving a lively feeling; the color of Grade B jade is too bright and yellowish. This is the most effective, but also the most difficult to implement in practice.

6. Look at the surface structure. The most effective method is to view it in sunlight or with a light. A-grade jade has an inlaid, interwoven and directional connection structure; B-grade jade is corroded by strong acid and has a loose structure. The crystals are obvious inside and on the surface, and there is a distinct network of water channels. This method is simple and easy to learn, but it requires the help of a spotlight.

7. Check the cotton and find impurities. Grade A jadeite will inevitably contain yellow, brown, black impurities and asbestos, while grade B jadeite is very pure and white, without any impurities. This is the easiest to understand. It is perfect and beautiful, and the price is cheap, so you have to be more careful.

8. Identification by transmitted light in water: Place the jewelry in a glass, add water to cover the jadeite, and use a spotlight to shine light from the bottom of the glass upwards. If there is a bright edge on the edge of the sample, it is B-grade jadeite, and if there is a dark circle, it is A-grade jadeite. In addition, B-grade jadeite is more transparent in the air and appears as a slightly transparent milky white waxy substance in water; while A-grade jadeite is clearer in water than in the air, and your internal texture can be seen.

There are 8 methods mentioned above. Except for the 8th method which is troublesome, the other 7 points can be perceived in a short time when actually inspecting the goods, and you can make some basic judgments.

The jade industry is a matter of eyesight. For those experienced people, they can basically figure it out by touching, looking, listening and using a flashlight. For friends who have just come into contact with jade, it is as difficult as ascending to heaven.

Having said that, mastering some methods of identifying A and B grade jadeite in daily life will be more or less helpful for friends who are just getting started. These are all summarized from practical experience.

Finally, when purchasing, it is recommended that friends ask the merchant for an authoritative appraisal certificate. This is the most reliable and scientific way to buy jade.
