The term "spicy color" is specifically used to describe the green color of jadeite. If the green color of a piece of jade is bright, rich, and prominent, different from the common mild green, it can be called "spicy". It can be full color, or it can be green in flakes, blocks, or clumps.

Spicy Green

If a piece of jade is rich, bright and prominent in green, different from the usual mild green, it will form a sharp contrast with other greens.

It can be called spicy green. It refers specifically to green, not other colors of jade such as red, yellow, etc. It only refers to the bright green. Green that is yellowish or bluish cannot be said to be spicy green.

Spicy green jadeite is a high-grade color of jadeite. It does not mean that jadeite with spicy color is necessarily of good quality. According to the comprehensive factors of jadeite quality and color, spicy green can be subdivided into medium spicy green jadeite and high spicy green jadeite. The color of jade refers to the beautiful colors in red and yellow fog, which is called "red color" or "yellow color". The three colors are a multi-color group of jade composed of red (yellow) fog and green.

The "three" here means many. Even if it is three colors, whether it is three colors, five colors, or seven colors, it can be said to be tri-color jade. That is to say, the color of jade generally does not refer to a single color, but a combination of more colors. But if green is not involved in the combination, it cannot be called tri-color. This is something like "莼(purple) with color" and "fog(yellow, red) with color". Green, red and yellow fog are important components of tri-color jadeite. Almost all tri-colors are related to red and yellow fog. There are also those who call red and yellow fog with green tri-color. Red or yellow fog is sometimes also called fog color.

Jade has four colors of fog: red, yellow, black and white, but only the beautiful red and yellow fog are valuable. Only red fog and yellow fog are important components of human's three colors, also known as fog colors.

Both red and yellow colors are jadeite of the same color, but the causes of green and purple are essentially different. They are the colors of the jadeite mineral itself, called autochromatography. The color of fog is exogenous color, which is the color of secondary minerals mixed in the gaps between jadeite crystals. These two colors cannot be compared. Why is red or yellow fog called color? It's not called color, nor can it be called jade.

Red and yellow fog are relatively common in jade materials, but there are not many beautiful and good-looking ones. There are relatively few clean fogs like the yellow fog of water and wine, honey fog, and red fog. And there are even fewer good fogs like ice yellow and ice red. Especially the beautiful red and yellow fog coexist with green to form a beautiful tri-color, which is even rarer. It determines that tri-color jade must be a rare thing.

The fog appears between the skin and the jade flesh. Controlled by its formation conditions, the width of the fog is very narrow, and the thickness and color intensity vary greatly. A good piece of red or yellow fog jade not only has bright fog color, but also appropriate fog thickness, which is beneficial for the interview.

Good color materials are not difficult to obtain, but good tri-color jade is rare because tri-color must meet the following two conditions. First, the color is colorful and bright, without dirt and spots, especially the red and yellow fog are of just the right shade; second, the quality of the three-color is good, and the water head must be sufficient. However, it is difficult to meet these two conditions at the same time, which is mainly limited by the conditions for the occurrence of red and yellow fog.

The red and yellow fog is a secondary mineral called limonite that fills the jadeite particles. It grows on the skin and is dark brown and reddish brown in color. It is not beautiful at all, and as it is an opaque mineral, there is no sense of transparency at all.

On the other hand, the green that is connected to or close to the fog is often "eaten up" by the skin or fog, becoming darker and losing its bright green color. If the fog of jade becomes thicker, the quality and water content of jade will deteriorate. The fog on jadeite with good quality and water is light. As the saying goes, "You can't have your cake and eat it too", it is very difficult to get tri-color jade with rich colors and good quality and water.
