There is a reason why many people are reluctant to appraise jade

Friends often send me messages, or friends around me bring the jade they bought to ask me for an estimate of its price. Some friends also ask other people for advice and get estimates from other people. But you will find that some friends who know about jade will refuse to help with the appraisal. Some friends will be puzzled and ask, since you know about jade, why don’t you help me with the appraisal? In fact, there are quite a lot of taboos in jadeite valuation.

In fact, many friends ask us to appraise their jadeite, such as a brand or a bracelet, because they want to see if they have overpaid or been cheated. This is understandable. But sometimes there is a reason why they don’t help with the appraisal, because many times they can tell where it was sold at a glance.

After helping with the appraisal, the friend who came for the appraisal felt that he had been ripped off, so he turned around and angrily went to the merchant to argue, and directly said that the appraisal had been done by so and so. Well, to be honest, this is very embarrassing. After all, we are all in the same industry. Although he sold it at a higher price, others may think that he is doing something behind the scenes.

Each industry has its own underlying rules, and some people do have their reasons for not wanting to estimate.

Moreover, many times, valuation is completely based on each person's own experience and psychological standards. To put it bluntly, the price estimated by a person is just the price he thinks it can be sold at. It may not be exactly the same as its market price. It can only provide a reference at most.

Some friends may say, I just don’t understand, but what should I do if I just like it and want to buy it? I am so busy most of the time, how do I have the time to learn how to appreciate jade? These are indeed very realistic things. In reality, many of our friends are in this situation. I don’t know much about jade, but I can’t help but want to buy it.

Then I can only say sincerely that it depends on your luck. If you are lucky and meet a good merchant, you can buy a good jadeite at a good price. If you are unlucky, we all know what will happen next, so there is no need to say it out loud.

Maybe some friends will say, that group of people make estimates, and then they just don’t say anything. That being said, the circle is here, and we are all insiders. We can tell where our friends bought their jade, and others can also tell from your few words where you got the price estimated. Although you didn't really say where you got the estimate, it doesn't stop others from guessing.

So, I can help you see the quality of the jade, what is good and what is bad, I can also share knowledge about jade with you, and I can also share with friends how to appraise jade, but I will avoid giving a direct appraisal of jade.
