Why is jadeite inlaid with K gold? Is it really to save costs?

When we buy jadeite, when we encounter inlaid jadeite, we will be concerned about what material is used for the inlay, and the answer we get is basically K gold.

To put it bluntly, K gold is basically impure gold. Why don’t we choose pure gold when inlaying jadeite, but use K gold “mixed with water”? Is it because you are too stingy? Or is it to save costs? In fact, there is a reason for this:

1. K gold has high hardness:

K gold has high hardness, low toughness, high brightness, and is not easy to deform or wear. However, pure gold is too soft and cannot be used for more complex designs. Due to its hardness and wear resistance, K gold can fix jade more firmly.

2. K gold is more beautiful

Although K gold is not pure gold, the craftsmanship of K gold is much more complicated than that of pure gold. The K gold that has gone through more than ten processes looks refreshing and delicate, with sufficient light and brightness. As an inlay base, it can better set off the exquisiteness of jade.

3. K gold has many colors

K gold has a variety of colors and can meet the needs of customers who like different colors according to different formulas. It is fashionable and highlights personality, simple but not monotonous.

4. K gold is more affordable

Compared with pure gold, K gold is obviously more affordable, the setting cost will also be lower, and accordingly, the finished product will be more cost-effective.

Fashion elements of Western gemstone design are constantly being integrated into traditional jade culture. Jade inlaid jewelry created with creative design and exquisite K gold inlay craftsmanship has made jade move from tradition to fashion.

Jade is no longer "an ornament only worn by older people". Jade is loved by more and more people of all ages. Jade inlaid jewelry is rich in variety and diverse in styles. Common ones include jade rings, earrings, pendants, necklaces, bracelets, corsages, etc.
