From stone to finished product, jade processing requires a series of processes.

Jade cutting method:

1. Material review

Before processing, you must have a comprehensive understanding of the actual conditions of the raw materials, that is, understand the specific conditions of the processing object and make appropriate adjustments according to the materials.

Lighting is used to analyze the internal situation of the jadeite raw stone. This is an important reference for experts before making a bid.

As for this stone, the colored areas are very obvious and the color is also relatively clear, which makes it one of the less difficult types.

2. Cutting the stone into slices

Refers to the first cut to split the stone

How you cut is the key. If you don’t cut it well, it is entirely possible that one million will turn into one hundred thousand!

After careful observation and judgment, you need to choose the direction for cutting. If there is a crack, the first cut is mainly along the grain.

Principles of cutting:

(1) Be especially careful with pigments, making sure not to destroy the green color.

If the materials are cut well, used well, and shipped well, greater profits can be obtained, so experience is very important for the cutting master.

(2) Start cutting from the worst part.

Before you gain experience, it is better to start with the worst part so that you won’t lose too much.

(3) Make the finished product as large as possible

The larger and rarer the finished product, the higher its value. If you can make bracelets, make them first and use the rest to make small accessories. Those with many cracks can only be made into decorative pieces or pendants.

(4) The principle of dual use

Patterned pieces and plain bodies go hand in hand. If possible, make them plain, and don't be too rigid.

After the material is cut, the master will design the carving according to the material, and then start carving. After completion, the next step is the polishing process.

Jade polishing process:

1. Use oil stone to polish it first. If the previous carving is relatively rough, use oil stones of different coarseness and fineness in turn.

2. Fine grinding: Grind the surface with a grinding wheel and grind repeatedly.

3. Add iron nails, that is, use iron nails dipped in diamond powder to complete the details of the carving.

4. Apply sandpaper and use sandpaper of different coarseness and fineness to polish the large areas of the carving in turn to prepare for the next step.

5. Use a brush dipped in diamond powder to whip the surface of the carving at high speed.

6. Cleaning: The purpose is to clean the polishing powder remaining on the polished jade. Ultrasonic machines are mainly used for cleaning, and alcohol is used to wipe areas that cannot be cleaned.

7. Waxing is a kind of protection for the surface of the finished jade product. After blowing it dry, you're done.

From raw stone to "precious" stone, during this long process, the stone has been cut and polished countless times before finally appearing before our eyes.
