How to correctly distinguish old pit jadeite from new pit jadeite

I believe everyone has heard of old pit jade and new pit jade. It is not unfamiliar to talk about. Some jade collectors must be very familiar with it, but for those who are new to the jade field, it should be relatively unfamiliar. So for novices, how should they correctly distinguish them?

1. Look at the cotton

There is very little cotton in old mine jade, and even if there is, the cotton is in the form of tiny dots. Jade from new mines has more cotton, and is also accompanied by a lot of things like ice chips.

2. Check whether the glue is

Jadeite from old mines sometimes gives people a visual sense of transparency, and at the same time it seems that the flesh contains a gelatinous substance that is evenly distributed and dissolved in the flesh, giving people a very solid and profound feeling. Jadeite from new mines does not do this.

3. Look at the grayscale

Usually, old pit jade with good water content always has a little gray color. If you come across old pit jade with good water content, old species and no gray feeling, the price will be quite high, and the problem cannot be solved by tens of thousands of dollars.

4. Look at the fluorescence

Sometimes, old pit jade with good water content can give off a soft and profound light emanating from the inside of the jade; new pit jade rarely has this glow.

5. Look at the density

From the perspective of jade's internal structure, the old pit jade has a tight internal structure, and the density of the components of the mineral crystal particles is very high; the internal structure of the new pit jade is not so tight, and its density is not as good as that of the old pit jade.

6. Look at the surface gloss

High-quality old pit jade, after polishing, has a bright luster and looks very lively and shining; while the luster of new pit jade is relatively dull and not as sharp.

7. Look at transparency

The water head of old pit jade is very good, and its transparency is correspondingly better; the water head of new pit jade is poor, and its transparency is not as good as that of old pit jade.
