The jadeite raw stone from Damakan, which is half mountain and half water, is cleverly carved into a Northern Wei Dynasty Bodhisattva statue. Do you think it looks beautiful?

I would like to share with you a piece of half-mountain and half-water stone from the Damakan mine, and the process of unearthing a Northern Wei Bodhisattva. I like the material from this mine because of its oiliness, fog layer, and color (such as tri-color, yellow and green). At the same time, some jade lovers feel that it is not to their liking and is not as lustrous as ice, green, blue water, and violet jade. Perhaps everyone has different aesthetic views. Well, I won’t say anything else.

Damakan Mine is an indispensable mine when it comes to colorful carving. It plays a vital role in the production of materials that are half mountain and half water, with a yellow fog appearance.

Under the light, the yellow turns to white. Generally speaking, this kind of lighting performance means that the meat inside is very likely white meat. If it turns to green, it is green meat.

There are many styles of Bodhisattva and Buddha statues, and many friends like the Northern Wei style.

Sharing of carved goods

Rough goods refer to the condition before polishing. Basically, carving is completed at this step, and the only thing left is polishing.

The relationship between the texture layers in the material makes it just right to use the white meat to carve Bodhisattva and Buddha statues, with the yellow fog on the back remaining glossy.

Polishing also uses a combination of matte and high gloss techniques. Although the process is more complicated, it can highlight the three-dimensional sense of the finished product.

The material with a glutinous texture close to glutinous ice is also very suitable for carving this kind of subject matter. The material is not very transparent, nor is it completely turbid.

A layer of fog is left on the back, and scriptures are engraved on it, which just echoes the front!
