Is there black jade?

Is there black jade?

The black jade mentioned here refers to jade with pure black color, which is not the same as the commonly known black jade . This kind of black color is black whether under natural light or under strong light. Especially for some black jadeite with good water content, under strong light, it can be seen that the black color also has a purple hue. Although many books mention the color of jadeite, not many people in the industry have actually seen pure black jadeite .

What is Black Jade?

"Black jade" is commonly known as "black chicken" jade. In addition to the main mineral - jadeite , it also contains some other tiny dark minerals in the form of dots. When dark minerals appear in large quantities, they will obviously absorb light and the jade will appear black; when black matter appears only in small quantities and locally, it will only absorb part of the light and the color of the jade will appear grayish white or grayish black, which is the so-called "incense ash ground" jade. Black jadeite shows varying shades of black and gray-black under either reflected or transmitted light. The dark coloring minerals generally appear in the form of clumps, strips, clouds, and stars. The black dots "fly shit" in jade that we often talk about are because of the presence of very small amounts of dark minerals in the form of sporadic dots. "Fly shit" is a defect in jade.

In addition, good black jade can reach the ice type, commonly known as "ice black chicken" or "ice ink" in the industry. It has better transparency and the best is "ice type with black flowers". However, the color diffusion effect of black jade is not very good. It will appear stiff and rigid, and will not appear vivid like other colors of jade with good water quality. The poor quality black jade has an uneven distribution of black color, and small white patches or filaments can be seen in some parts.

The difference between black jade and black jade

Some people think that black jade looks black, so it is also called "black jade". So are the words "black jade" and "black jade" two names for the same jade? In fact, the answer is wrong. In other words, ice-type black jadeite and ice-type black jadeite are not the same thing at all. They are two very different types of jade.

The biggest difference between the two is that the black part of black jade remains black after being transmitted through light, while the black jadeite appears to be a very fine emerald green when transmitted through light. Ice-type black flowers are also called "black chicken type". Ice-type black flowers jadeite with good water content is like Chinese ink painting and is also a good treasure. Black jade can be regarded as a rising star in the jade world. The atmosphere of black jade has always been attractive. The quality of black jade can only be observed after shining light.
