Thousands of statues, one fate after another - blue water material carving, exquisite works

Blue Water is a variety of ice jadeite. High-quality Blue Water material has the characteristics of old species, fine and smooth texture, high purity and uniform color. Its color is full of aura, giving people a sense of mystery, and the same material with different thicknesses will present different colors.

Blue water jade is not rare in jade, but high-quality blue water jade is relatively rare. The three blue water works selected in this article are all made of good quality and very high purity blue water materials. The results are very satisfactory. They have both aura and color and are full of vitality.

The deep and mysterious color of the blue water material also makes it very suitable for carving mysterious themes such as religious ones. Using different depths and thicknesses in the carving process and combining frosting with other techniques in the polishing process can make the entire work present a more perfect effect.

The jade carvings of Ganesha, Garuda and Hanuman in this set of works are all gods with romantic legends and infinite divine power in Buddhist culture. After several centuries or even more than a dozen centuries of dissemination, development and continuous enrichment, there is a close connection between Han Buddhist culture and Tibetan Buddhist culture. Therefore, it can be said that this set of works not only has the same materials, but also the same themes.

Ganesha

▲The design of Ganesha and several inlay schemes provided

Ganesha is revered as the "God of Wealth" in Buddhist beliefs in Southeast Asian countries such as Tibet and Thailand. In the later period, it was absorbed by Indian Buddhism as a Dharma protector and inherited by Tibetan Buddhism. In many countries and religions, Ganesha is a symbol of wealth, wisdom, power, health, auspiciousness and success.

Using blue water material of high purity, good quality, tender and smooth texture, which presents a spiritual azure blue color under translucent light as the carrier, and taking Buddhist culture as the theme, a baby elephant god was carved that has the beauty of symmetrical and dignified beauty, yet is fashionable and cute. When viewed under different light and at different angles, the light transmission effects it presents are different and each has its own charm. When there is no light transmission effect, it has a different charm. The natural wonder of jade is perfectly reflected in this tiny space.

When carving, great care was taken on the crown of Ganesha, while other parts were left mostly white and polished, in order to better showcase the natural beauty of the jade and the peace and cuteness of the baby Ganesha.

In addition, the purity and rarity of blue water material is highly consistent with the pure heart of the baby elephant god and his compassionate heart of seeking wealth and health for the public who pray for wealth.

Hanuman

In order to grasp every detail more accurately, the design draft of Hanuman was designed by the jade carver directly on the jade according to the shape and characteristics of the jade.

This cute monkey is named Hanuman. Perhaps the first thing that comes to your mind when you see it is our lovely Monkey King Sun Wukong. But Hanuman is a monkey god from the Indian epic Ramayana, the son of the wind god. The Monkey King is one of China's famous mythological figures, from Journey to the West, and is the Fighting Buddha in local Buddhist culture. There are different opinions on whether the two have the same origin, but they are both divine monkeys in myths and legends who possess boundless magical powers and bravely conquer demons. This is something they have in common. Tibetan Buddhist culture and Chinese Buddhist culture are also essentially the same. Therefore, whether it is Hanuman or Sun Wukong, they are both sacred, legendary, and mysterious in people's hearts.

This work is more translucent and beautiful, with lively and energetic colors. The monkey god has an exquisite crown, dense and slightly rough hair, and the face and other parts of the body are sandblasted, which better reflects the characteristics of the monkey. Behind it, slanting upward is its magic weapon. Hanuman is revered as the transmitter of academic knowledge and the protector of farming. At this time, it puts its hands together, as if to use its magic power to protect the people.

It is pleasing to the eye and still has a bit of playfulness and cuteness. While giving people peace and wisdom, it also has a strong sense of fashion, which is naturally pleasing.

Garuda

▲Design draft of Garuda, the final work is slightly different from the design draft

Garuda, one of the Eight Immortals, is the guardian of Buddhism. There are legends about it in both Tibetan Buddhism and Chinese Buddhism. When describing Peng in Zhuangzi's "Xiao Yao You", he wrote "It strikes the water for three thousand miles, and soars up to ninety thousand miles." This was probably the golden-winged Peng bird he was referring to. The legendary Garuda has a body as big as a mountain, with a wingspan of 3.36 million miles when its wings are spread out. It lives in the lower levels of Mount Sumeru. In Journey to the West, even Sun Wukong, who could travel 108,000 miles with one somersault cloud, could not outrun the Garuda, which shows how powerful the Garuda is. As a guardian of Buddhism, Garuda was sent by Tathagata at the beginning of human beings to subdue the evil dragons that spread all over the earth at the beginning of human beings and create peace for mankind. Therefore, since ancient times, Garuda has been worshipped by humans as a guardian deity for praying for peace.

▲It is very smooth and delicate even without polishing

In order to better show the perfect side of the material and the coordination of the overall effect, the final product is slightly different from the design draft. The jade carver incorporated some of his own ideas into the actual operation process. The whole work looks like a pool of living water under light, very pure, with very subtle changes in different thicknesses and parts. The Peng bird's bright eyes, flaming eyebrows and eagle-like sharp beak all add a touch of heroic spirit to it. In this Wuwei heroic spirit, the action of making the "yeah" sign with both hands has a very strong sense of identity with the times and immediately captured the hearts of many young people.

When the Garuda spreads its wings, it can "soar up to 90,000 miles", so it is not only a guardian of peace, but also the best guardian for those who pray for a successful career and a bright future.

A piece of blue water jade is divided into pieces of different images. Although they are separated in shape, the designer and jade carver rely on Buddhist culture to make it an invisible thread that runs through the theme, making them both independent individuals and an indivisible whole. In this way, not only the integrity of the material is preserved, but the connotation and spirit are also highly consistent. Three pieces of blue water jadeite made from the same material and the profound Buddhist culture create a collision and encounter between body, mind and soul. At the same time, elements of the times are incorporated into the creative process, and the creative theme is expressed in a cute and interesting way, keeping pace with the times and being very fashionable. While giving people a pleasant visual enjoyment, it is also a spiritual and cultural baptism.
