A glass-type bracelet turned into an ice-type one after being worn for 3 months? Is it possible that jadeite will change its quality on its own?

People raise jade and jade raises people. We often say that jade bracelets will become brighter the longer they are worn if they are carefully maintained. How come a bracelet just bought becomes uglier the more you wear it? Let’s take a look at what’s going on.

▲The bracelet when I first bought it

Half a year ago, Ms. Chen bought her mother a glass jade bracelet as a birthday gift. She was very happy at first, but after only wearing it for three months, the bracelet became opaque, gray and dark, and it looked like a fake. Ms. Chen was still wondering, could it be that the glass type would turn into ice type?

▲The bracelet has been worn for several months

After looking at the picture, Consultant Zhao realized that it was not a "mutation" problem. In fact, it was because the bracelet itself was not old enough, and it had begun to "leak" over time. Simply put, the water head had dried up, and it could still be as bright and clean as new after polishing.

Why does the water head of jade become dry?

Water is the soul of jade. Jade without water loses its vitality and looks very rigid.

What we call water actually refers to the transparency of jade. If the water head is good, the light transmittance will be strong; if the water head is poor, the light cannot diffuse.

▲The water head is good, and the light can be projected far

▲Poor water head, light basically does not diffuse

The water content of most jadeite is not so extreme, it is somewhere between very watery and very dry, and sometimes it is difficult to determine. Therefore, professionals in the industry judge the water content of jadeite in this way:

People in the industry use halo to measure the quality of jadeite's water content, which is referred to as "the amount of water".

"One point of water" refers to the halo transmission 3mm thick

"Two-point water" refers to the halo transmission 6mm thick

"Three-point water" refers to the halo transmission 9mm thick

When we buy jade, it is impossible to really measure it, so it is enough to roughly know its quality. If I give a more vivid analogy, such as using a human face, it may be easier to understand. The water of jadeite can be roughly divided into the following categories

【One-third of water is transparent】

Just like an 18-year-old girl, even without makeup, she is full of collagen, delicate and lively

[One point of water is translucent]

Just like a 27-year-old young woman, she may need to cover up the blemishes on her skin a little, but that will make her less beautiful.

[Half of the water is slightly transparent]

It's more like a woman over 40 who doesn't take care of her skin. Her skin is not as hydrated as before.
