Jade is considered a small luxury item. Once a good quality jade is processed by a famous artist, its price per gram is even much higher than that of gold and diamonds. There is a Chinese saying that goes "Gold has a price, but jade is priceless", which means that the price of gold is fixed, while jade is often priced but not sold, or has a market but no price, and cannot be compared with other precious metals. So now there are many counterfeit and shoddy products on the market. To identify real and fake jade is to tell the difference between real jade and jade substitutes. Jade substitutes can be divided into two categories. One is the imitation jade products made of glass, porcelain, and plastic, which are generally called fakes. Since these materials are very different from real jade in hardness, specific gravity, fracture and color, they are relatively easy to identify. The second is to use other green jades to impersonate jadeite. The counterfeit goods currently on the market include Australian jade (green chalcedony), dense jade, Malayan jade (dyed quartz), demantoid garnet (calcium chrome garnet), climbing jade, Dushan jade, nephrite, Guizhou jade, and Ulan jade. In fact, compared to jade, the green color of these things is significantly different from that of jade. At the same time, they are also different in physical properties, and can be easily identified by careful comparison. For example, Australian jade is cryptocrystalline quartz with a uniform and tender green color without any jadeite properties. When observed with a magnifying glass, there is no orange peel on the polished surface. Jadeite is also made of quartz and is dark green in color. Malayan jade is dyed quartz, which is dyed with chromium salt pigments mixed with iron. Its appearance is no different from the finest jadeite. However, when observed under a ten-fold magnifying glass, it can be seen that the color is hidden in the cracks of the quartz aggregate, and the green is in a network-like shape, with no color blocks or color roots. The dispersion of demantoid garnet is much stronger than that of emerald, it is completely transparent and green, with stronger other tones. Climbing jade has plenty of water content, and the green color is distributed in spots, blocks, and strips. It is not bright and has gray-blue flowers. There is no halo, and it has a clear boundary with the base. Its hardness is lower than that of jadeite, and its structure is not fine. The color of Dushan jade is dark, and the base is short and dry. The specific gravity and hardness of nephrite are lower than those of jadeite, and its surface is oily, smoother and more moist than jadeite. The sound of Wulan jade is dull when knocked, it is dark green in color and its luster is not bright. Methods for Identifying Artificially Treated Jade 1. Observation method: Due to the characteristics of jadeite's polycrystalline structure, using a high-power magnifying glass can observe the gum or dye pigment hidden in the gaps of the crystal structure in artificially treated products, and can see the acid-corroded reticular surface or the dyed reticular pigment. 2. Drip method: When concentrated hydrochloric acid is dripped on natural jade, sweat beads will appear on its surface within a few seconds or minutes; this phenomenon will not occur on artificially treated products. 3. Tapping method: Gently tapping natural jade will produce a crisp and pleasant sound; while tapping a substitute will produce a low, muffled sound. 4. Acid baking method: Rub concentrated acid on the back of the jadeite, then cover it with a red-hot pin and bake it. Repeat two or three times. If yellow or burnt spots are visible, it is artificially treated jadeite. If no such spots are seen, it is pure natural jadeite. This method is safer than simple "burning method", will not damage objects, and has excellent results. As long as you master the above methods, observe carefully, and compare with the actual objects, you will be able to identify the authenticity of jade with ease and there will be no mistakes. Affected by the epidemic in 2020, the mining volume of Myanmar jadeite raw stones has dropped significantly, and the Myanmar government has already announced that new mining will be stopped from 2021. There is no doubt that when the supply and demand relationship changes, the price of jadeite raw stones will inevitably "rise." Nowadays, the Internet is developing faster and faster. Many people can only observe their favorite jade products through some pictures. However, this also has a disadvantage. Many merchants will beautify the products, with a large color difference, and send them to customers in a beautiful way. However, we in Huainan will still insist on using the original camera lens, through videos and live broadcasts, to let everyone understand the true appearance of jade. Huainanhui Mall is a self-operated jade platform. In order to establish its reputation among consumers and gain their trust, it has joined hands with the People's Insurance Company of China to promise "100% authentic products in the store", "7 days of no-reason return", and "three times compensation for fake products, up to one million", eliminating consumers' worries. All consumption by consumers on the Huainanhui platform will be protected by the platform, which has a “zero tolerance” policy for counterfeits to safeguard consumers. Huainan Association hopes to serve as a role model in the industry and lead other online jade shopping platforms in the industry to gradually get back on track. It calls on each platform to assume more responsibilities, promptly regulate and constrain the behavior of merchants, so that consumers can buy and wear with peace of mind. fcgc66 fcpf18 |
