Because high-quality jade will first be considered for being made into plain jade, while carved jade is mostly intended to cover up the flaws of jade through carving.

There is no denying the correctness of this statement, which is based on the principle of jadeite's material preservation and water permeability, but this does not mean that the quality and texture of carved jadeite will be very poor, or that carved jadeite has no value. It's just that compared to plain jadeite, its value is relatively low. Good carved jadeite is often very valuable.

Among the several factors to judge carved jadeite, carving is a very important factor. How can you judge carved jadeite without looking at the carving?
