There is a saying in the jade industry: Jade with color but no quality is low-grade jade, and jade with quality but no color can also be high-grade jade.

To put it simply, jadeite with color may not necessarily be valuable, but jadeite with good quality is definitely a valuable high-end product.

For example, colored dry green is very cheap and is a low-grade jadeite; colorless glass-type jadeite is of good quality and has a delicate structure and is a high-grade jadeite, and its price is not low.

This brings us back to the issue that is often said about jadeite: "laymen look at the color, experts look at the quality." The quality of jadeite is a general term for its mineral composition, texture, and transparency.

The quality of jade plays a very important role in jade.

The texture of jade includes two parts: structure and transparency. The fineness of jade structure directly affects its texture, water head, gloss and hardness. Jade with fine particles and tight combination is warm and delicate, which is also a necessary condition for high-end jade. The quality of jadeite with coarse grains and loose structure will be significantly reduced.

Jadeite with good quality looks very spiritual. Based on the transparency from high to low, jadeite is classified into glass type (very transparent), ice type (transparent), glutinous type (opaque), bean type, and porcelain type. The finer the texture, the higher the transparency.

Conversely, the coarser the texture, the worse the transparency. Jade with a good base can make light-colored jade appear crystal clear and beautiful, and can make uneven colors appear uniform. Jadeite of poor quality will look dull and lifeless, so there is a saying in the industry: we are not afraid of lack of color, but we are afraid of lack of quality.

As an outsider, I don't recommend going for the so-called colored ones right away.

There are two reasons: First, the prices of jadeites with good quality and color are not low, so it is difficult for ordinary people to buy them. After seeing the jadeites with good quality and color, they always feel that other jadeites are not pleasing to the eye, but it also depends on one's actual situation; second, some jadeites have color, but the quality is very poor and lacks the spirituality of natural jade. The quality will not change much after wearing for a long time, and they are still low-end products.

The price of jade ranges from several thousand yuan to millions of yuan. Generally speaking, jadeite beginners are reminded to choose according to their actual situation. Color is good, but the quality of the water should also be considered comprehensively. If color and quality of the water can be perfectly combined, it is truly a rare opportunity.
