Recently, I saw my cousin received a jade necklace. Out of curiosity, I checked to see if it was genuine. Here are some tips I found to identify jade:

1. From the surface

Fake jade usually has bumps and pits on the surface like "orange peel". This is a phenomenon caused by strong acid treatment. Generally, you can't see anything. Only with a high-power magnifying glass can you see these phenomena clearly. Of course, this method cannot be applied to all jade. Jade with poor texture or old jade unearthed will also have this phenomenon.

2. From the structure

The jadeite produced by merchants generally has a loose structure, is not tight, and has a waxy luster, rather than the clarity that jadeite should have.

3. From the color

The color of processed jade products usually appears on the surface and cannot penetrate into the interior of the jade, while the color of natural jade is extremely clear and can pass through.

4. Experience through touch

If you touch it with your hand, real jade will feel cool. Processed jade will not feel comfortable to the touch and will not have a smooth feeling.
