As the saying goes, "Gold has a price, jade is priceless." The evaluation of jade is relatively complicated. The evaluation principles of jade jewelry can be summarized into three principles:

4C: Color, Clarity, Cut, and CRACK;

2T Transparency, Structure;

1V Volume (VOLUME). The evaluation order is: color - type - quality - workmanship. Observe the light source: sunlight at noon. The following is an introduction to the evaluation principles one by one.

1. Color: The color of jade is divided into four key points: rich, bright, positive and even.

1) Intense: People usually just roughly divide color into deep, medium and light, but the color concentration has different values. In terms of preference, young people prefer light-colored jade, while older people prefer dark-colored jade. We can use the ten words "thick, yang, pretty, straight, harmonious, light, yin, old, evil, and flowery" to evaluate it, which can be called the cross formula. "Nong" means the color is dark green without any black. On the contrary, “light” refers to a lighter green color, which shows weakness. "Yang" refers to bright and vivid colors. The opposite is "yin", which refers to the dark and stagnant green color. Even though the Yang Green is a little lighter, it still gives people a sense of freshness and is attractive. Even if the shade of green is deep and rich, it is not popular. "Qiao" means that the green color looks beautiful and crystal clear. The opposite is "old", that is, the green appears dull and lifeless. "Zheng" means the green is bright and pure. On the contrary, if there are yellow, cyan, blue, gray, black, etc. colors in green, it is considered “evil”. The value of evil colors is obviously reduced, and we should pay special attention to the subtle differences between evil colors. "和" means the green is even and not mottled. If the green color appears in the form of silk threads or has scattered dots or blocks, it is a "flower", which will affect the value of the jade material or jadeware to varying degrees.

According to the degree to which emerald green is mixed with different colors, it can be roughly divided into six levels.

The distribution of jade crystal particles will affect the distribution of color. Unevenness is a characteristic of jade, so the uniformity of color distribution becomes an evaluation factor, which can be roughly divided into:

2. Clarity

Refers to the number of internal flaws in jadeite, which can be divided into the following types according to their shapes:

1) Dotted black and white.

2) The silky defects are shaped like tobacco and are light brown; or they are silky white, also known as "white flower cap".

3) The film is black and brownish-yellow, making the jade look very "dirty".

3. Cut

Jade jewelry can be divided into two categories: plain products and carvings.

Finished plain products: various arc-shaped ring faces, heart-shaped pendants, bracelets, antique bracelets, etc., with minimal cracks.

Points to note when observing the finished product: 1) the outline of the finished product, 2) the symmetry of the finished product, 3) the length-to-width ratio of the finished product, 4) the egg-shaped ring face also includes the curvature of the top surface

4. Crack

Cracks have a great impact on the value of jadeite, "one crack breaks it in half", especially bracelets, and the cracks are often processed during the processing of carvings.

5. Transparency

In the industry, it is generally called "type" or "water". Transparency has a great influence on the appearance of jade. Crystal clear jade is figuratively described as having full water content, otherwise it is dry. Transparency is also related to the quality of jade seed. "Good type can cover up three ugly things."

6. Structure

Refers to the thickness, shape and bonding methods of the grains that make up jade. The degree of fineness, roughness, tightness and looseness of jade texture affects the type of jade. There are usually three types: very fine grains are called fine grains, which are extremely difficult to see with the naked eye; slightly coarse grains are called medium grains, which are visible to the naked eye; and extremely coarse grains are called coarse grains, which are very obvious to the naked eye.

7. Volumetric Weight

Different jade items have different prices.
