What are A-grade jadeite, B-grade jadeite, and C-grade jadeite? How to distinguish between ABC grade jadeite?

What are A-grade jadeite, B-grade jadeite, and C-grade jadeite? How to distinguish between ABC grade jadeite?

1. What are ABC jade and B+C jade?

The ABC here are not grades. But all ABC jades were originally natural jades. However, B-grade and B+C-grade jadeite cannot reach jewelry grade.

Grade A jade is natural jade that has not been processed in any way.

B-grade jade is jade that has been acid-washed and then filled with organic fillers such as plastic.

C-grade jade is dyed jade.

B+C goods are dyed jadeite that has been acid-washed and filled with glue.

So in a sense, they can't be said to be fake. However, the market now does not recognize jadeite other than A-grade jadeite. Some of the so-called old jadeite sold in tourist shopping malls are actually B-grade or B+C-grade jadeite. The most terrifying thing is that unscrupulous merchants take B-grade and C-grade goods and sell them at the price of A-grade goods.

2. How to distinguish between ABC jadeite

(1) How to distinguish between Grade A and Grade B jadeite

The luster of A-grade jadeite is normal and strong. Some B-grade jadeite has a strange artificial fluorescence. Similar to some plastic products. As shown in the figure:

Grade B jadeite: This is because the inferior jadeite is soaked in strong acid and then filled with organic fillers such as plastic or resin, which reduces its luster.

Acid-etched reticulation, B-grade jadeite that has been soaked in strong acid can be seen through the reflective surface, as shown in the white reflective area in the picture below.

(2) How to distinguish between A-grade and C-grade products

Most of the jades on the market that pretend to be natural jade are B-grade or B+C-grade jades. Because they were originally jade, using this as a carrier makes the cost of counterfeiting lower and more similar.

The color distribution of natural A-grade jadeite has a sense of layering. There is a feeling of gradually getting thicker and thinner. The color of C goods is in clumps and the color blocks float upwards. There is no beginning or end, and it doesn't look natural.
