What is the difference between new and old jade materials?

When choosing jade, is it better to choose old material or new material? Of course, old material is better. I believe many friends have heard of this, but don’t know what it means specifically. Today we will talk about the concepts of new and old jade materials. Speaking of this, we must first talk about the composition of jade. Jade is mainly composed of jadeite, and its formation conditions are very difficult. It must be formed under low temperature conditions.

After intense geological movement, the ore was turned over to the surface, and after thousands of years of sedimentation, jade was formed. We all know that jade resources are actually becoming less and less scarce, and after the influence of masks in recent years, the transaction of jade raw stones was once suspended. Recently, some friends also asked me whether the price of jade has dropped in such a bad environment, and whether the market has become worse.

Actually, not yet. The current jade market is still in a semi-shortage state. Not only are the materials scarce, but they are also expensive. For some people to reduce the price, it is just junk. For really good things, its price has not changed, and there is even a trend of increasing. So the price has not been affected. Back to the topic of new and old materials, jade will be transported to the surface through geological movement.

Then some are affected by weathering, and some are impacted by river water and scattered into riverbeds or ravines. This part of the material is wrapped in mud and sand to form a secondary crust, which is then transported by rainwater and gathered together to form secondary ore, that is, secondary ore deposits. Of course, there will be some poor quality materials that have turned into debris in the process of impact weathering. These are eliminated by nature. The remaining materials are also relatively compact in structure, and the quality, water content, and color are basically not bad. Finally, this kind of material is called old material by us.

Old material can also be said to be secondary ore, not primary ore, that is, it is formed secondary. The formation process of yellow jade is like this. The new material is naturally primary ore. The primary ore has not been moved and has not been affected by impact. Its texture is generally deviant, so people think that this material is immature and tender, and call this material new material. Many jade friends like old materials and old mines when choosing jade. Old materials and old mines do not mean that they have been mined for a long time, and new materials do not mean that they are newly mined. This is a big misunderstanding.
