In contrast, the Guanyin we see now is purely hand-carved. We can see from its face that the sculptor's skills are quite impressive. The facial features are portrayed quite clearly, even every hair can be seen clearly, and the sculpture is very three-dimensional, which makes it appear more lifelike.

The basic water quality of thick-decorated Guanyin is often quite good. A certain thickness can make this type of Guanyin carving highlight its glue or stick taste. Therefore, many friends may blindly follow the trend and think that as long as it is thick, it must be good. But the fact is, it must have very good water quality like this. Otherwise, it will be embarrassing if it is thick but not transparent.

But then again, it’s not necessarily a good thing if items like Guanyin are too thick. Firstly, it will increase the weight, which may be a bit tight around the neck. Secondly, no matter how good the material is, if it is too thick, it will inevitably affect its transparency. Normally, what we call thick clothing basically refers to an average thickness of around 0.7-0.8 cm.
