Master these 5 factors when choosing jadeite, and you will never suffer a loss

Jade is the crystallization of tens of millions or even billions of years of nurturing by heaven and earth, and it contains the essence of nature. Jade has only been introduced to China for a hundred years, but it has been integrated into China's thousand-year-old jade culture. Whether it is the rarity and preciousness of jade or the cultural connotations it contains, choosing jade is destined to be a science, and the importance of this science is beyond doubt.

First point: look at the species

The type of jade refers to the coarseness of its structure and transparency, and is one of the important indicators for evaluating the quality of jade. Generally speaking, on the premise that it is pure natural jade, the more uniform the color, the more transparent the texture, and the more water head, the better the jade quality and the higher the collection value.

Second point: Look at the shape

The fuller and more rounded the jade is, the greater its potential for appreciation.

The third point: Look at the color

The color of jade is also very important. The four standards for judging color in the industry are positive, rich, bright and uniform. The purer the color, the better; it cannot be too dark or gray; the more uniform the color, the better; it is best if it blends with the base color; the color must be bright so that the jade looks more energetic.

Fourth point: water head

Place the jade towards a light source, either sunlight or light from a lamp, and then judge the transparency of the jade based on the depth to which the light can penetrate the jade. The deeper the incident light is, the better its transparency is, which means its water head is longer and fuller; on the contrary, if the incident light is relatively short or basically opaque, it means that the transparency of this jade is poor and the water head is poor.

However, it should be noted that the intensity of light and changes in jade thickness have a greater impact on the water head of jade. When looking at jade under strong light sources and close to noon sunlight, it is easy to see the "water head" as too long; when the light source is weak or it is cloudy, it is easy to misjudge the water head of jade. When observing the water head of jade, pay attention to the impact of light, otherwise you will make wrong judgments and miss out on good jade or buy jade with poor water head.

Fifth point: A-grade goods (also the most important point)

When choosing jadeite, the first thing to do is to determine whether it is genuine jadeite. This can be identified through the National Jewelry Testing Center.

Grade A jade is pure natural jade. Apart from cutting, grinding and polishing, this kind of jade has not undergone any artificial improvement processing, and its color and transparency are genuine. Jade can be divided into good and bad types. Really good A-grade jade is usually very expensive and is also scarce. In order to make profits, many merchants will continue to improve the processing technology of artificially processed jade, and pass off B, C, and D goods as A-grade jade.

B-grade jade is jade that has been washed away of impurities. After this kind of jade is soaked in acid solution, impurities and colors will be removed. After removal, the jade will look more transparent and cleaner than before. The color of this kind of jade is not fake, but the transparency is fake. Moreover, this kind of jade cannot withstand the test of time. After a long time, it will be unrecognizable.

C-grade jade is jade that has been dyed. In order to gain more profits, many merchants will "heavily make up" jadeite that is not very good-looking. That is to say, those jades that are not bright enough will be dyed to make the color of the jade appear brighter. Generally speaking, this kind of jade is easy to identify. C-grade jade will turn red under an ordinary color filter, while undyed jade will not turn red.

D-grade jade refers to fake jade. Its components may be synthetic glass, crystal, "Malaysian jade" and "Australian jade", etc. In other words, this kind of jade jewelry originally had no green color or the green color was very light, and the bright green color was artificially colored, which means the color is fake jade. Generally speaking, D-grade jadeite is easy to identify. Dyed jadeite will turn red under an ordinary color filter, but undyed jadeite will not turn red.
