Jade is a mineral aggregate with jadeite as the main component. There are multiple colors, red is jadeite and green is emerald. Jadeite is relative to nephrite. French geologists have defined that jadeite has a Mohs hardness of 6.5-7.0, while nephrite has a Mohs hardness of 6.0-6.5. Jadeite is a hard jade, and Hetian jade is a soft jade. 1. The gambling stone is the jadeite

Gambling on jadeite refers to the act of mining jadeite, which is usually covered with a layer of surrounding rock, making it impossible to know the quality of the jadeite inside, and the quality can only be known after cutting. Some people became rich overnight, while others lost everything. Even with today's advanced technology, there is no instrument that can detect it.

We often see small windows on large pieces of jade raw materials. Although these small windows are very likely to show green, we must be extra cautious when seeing small windows. It may be a counterfeit.

The green color of some window openings is the broken edge of a pickaxe. When illuminated by light, the green inside looks very realistic, but strangely, the window part is not polished. The reason is most likely that there are too many cracks, the water is not good, there is black inside the green, or the green is not correct. Once such jade is polished, all its flaws will be exposed.

When purchasing high-end jade materials, you can often see traces of artificial polishing. Most of these traces were left by grinding, digging and rubbing when the owners were looking for green on the jade before the jade entered China. There is often no green in these traces. After that, they used sand and glue of the same color as the skin to cleverly camouflage themselves.

2. Basic Features

The main component is sodium aluminum silicate, an aggregate of granular and fibrous structures, and its forms include massive and conglomerate. Among them, conglomerate jade is the main object of currently popular gambling stones. Therefore, when gambling on stones, merchants usually use a strong flashlight to see if there is any green inside. Some people became rich overnight, while others lost everything overnight.

The colors include green, red, white, yellow, purple, black, etc. The colors are diverse, the color distribution is uneven, and multiple colors appear at the same time. Pure jadeite is white, while jadeite containing chromium and iron appears green, and the color deepens as the iron content increases. In addition to the primary colors, there are secondary colors, mainly red, yellow and brown, which are caused by infection with iron oxides.

3. Causes

There are four main views on the formation of jade in nature:

1: It is believed to be the desiliconization product of magma intrusion under high pressure conditions.

2: It is believed that it was formed when primary sodium feldspar decomposed into jadeite during regional metamorphism.

:3: It is believed that it is formed by replacement of granite veins under high pressure and the action of hot water solutions with high chemical potential of sodium.

4: Based on the discovery of three-phase inclusions of water, methane and jadeite in jadeite rock, it is believed that jadeite is formed by the crystallization of near-jadeite silicate melt.

4. Identification characteristics

Brittleness. Jade with a rough structure is brittle, but high-quality jade is not brittle.

Stone flowers. Jade generally contains tiny, fibrous stone flowers with poor transparency. The flowers on high-quality jadeite are not obvious.

Color characteristics: natural jadeite, multiple colors coexist.
