As jade counterfeiting technology becomes more and more sophisticated, fake jade is really hard to guard against. How to distinguish natural jade from artificially processed jade has always been a hot topic.

However, according to the principle that "everything done will leave traces", jadeite that has been artificially processed will always leave some indelible "traces" that people can identify. Today we will talk about the three obvious signs that will appear after jadeite is counterfeited. These are also the three most basic signs for identifying real and fake jadeite.

One of the signs of fake jade: too bright color

The colors of natural jade are rich and colorful, but these colors give people a comfortable and natural feeling. However, the colors of artificially dyed jade appear to be very bright and floating, and this brightness sometimes appears particularly dazzling and distorted.

Moreover, if the jade has cracks, dye will gather in the cracks and the color will be darker than other places. Don't think that this is the color root of natural jade.

Therefore, when purchasing jadeite, if you encounter colors that are too bright or somewhat distorted, you should purchase it with caution to avoid buying dyed jadeite.

The second sign of fake jade: weak luster

Most fake jadeite goes through two steps, acid washing and filling with glue, before dyeing. Acid washing will make the surface of the jadeite bumpy and the structure loose, causing diffuse reflection of light, and it does not have the glassy luster of natural jadeite after polishing.

The purpose of filling with glue is to fill the pits left on the surface of jade after acid washing to make the jade smooth. However, the luster reflected by the jade after glue injection is different from that reflected by natural jade.

Natural jade has a glassy luster, and the reflective surface is as bright and sharp as glass. The reflective points are concentrated and do not diverge. The higher the transparency of the jade, the stronger the gloss. The processed jade has a waxy luster, and the light feels dull and dull.

Fake jade sign three: loose texture

Most jadeite that needs to be artificially processed is of lower quality, so its internal structure is relatively loose. A series of artificial jadeite processing methods will also change the internal structure of jadeite, making its original relatively tight structure become loose.

Therefore, if you look at the texture of jade through light, you will find that it is very loose, uniform and clean as a whole, without any yellowish-brown spots and cracks that often appear in natural jade. Moreover, the transparency does not match the jade base. Jade with large grains but extremely high transparency is questionable.
