Although the jade bracelet on your wrist is nice, you also have to learn how to distinguish the good from the bad!

Although the jade bracelet on your wrist is nice, you also have to learn how to distinguish the good from the bad!

The method to identify the quality of jade bracelets is: To identify the quality of jade bracelets, the British and American Jewelry Associations have four standards: "color, transparency, uniformity, and shape". Our country has six standards, namely "color, transparency, uniformity, shape, knocking and reflection".

  1. color. No matter what color the jade bracelet is, the jade color must be bright. "White as cut fat", "yellow as steamed millet", "green as emerald feathers", and "black as ink" are the ancients' perfect summary of jade color. Those with mottled colors or dark colors are not of good quality. Among all colors of jade, green is the best. The value of red and purple is one-fifth of green. Jade containing four colors is called "Fu Lu Shou Xi"; if it only contains red, green and white, it is called "Fu Lu Shou".

2. Transparent. The transparent glass-like one is called jade bracelet, which is the best quality. Translucent and opaque jade is called intermediate jade or ordinary jade. Before the Qing Dynasty, jadeite was called jade with red, green and white colors. Now jadeite refers to transparent jade, most of which are transparent with green.

3. Even. Refers to the uniform color of a jade bracelet. The color of a jade bracelet lies in its uniformity. If it contains green but the color is uneven, its value is very low.

4. Shape. The bigger the jade bracelet is, the more valuable it is; and the thicker it is, the more valuable it is.

5. Knock. There are often fractures and cuts in jade. These cracks are generally not easy to observe, but by knocking on it, you can tell whether there are cracks by the clarity of the sound.

6. Photo. There are black spots and flaws in the jade that are difficult to see with the naked eye, but they can be seen clearly by using a 10x magnifying glass under the light (avoid strong light).

In addition, when purchasing jade, you should also pay attention to the craftsmanship and avoid purchasing under strong light. Because the exposure to light can easily cause jade to lose its original color and even cover up some flaws. The jade products are exquisitely and uniquely shaped, with vivid images, distinct layers, well-arranged layouts, and simple and elegant patterns. For colored items, you should make the best use of the color. Although shallow carvings are as flat as a mirror, the scenery should be of appropriate distance. The hollow ones should be exquisite and lifelike.
