Identification of genuine and fake jadeite

Identification of genuine and fake jadeite

There are many methods of jade identification on the Internet. What I want to introduce to you today is how to identify the authenticity of jade directly with the naked eye without using any instruments. You should know that if you have learned this identification method, it will be a very practical method for ordinary consumers to identify jade. Let’s learn how to identify jade with the naked eye.

Jadeite Grade Classification

To learn how to identify jadeite with the naked eye, you must first understand how jadeite is divided into several grades.

Grade A: refers to the entire process of jade from picking to processing into accessories. The quality and color of jade are all natural.

Grade B jade: refers to the process of jade being processed into jewelry, which undergoes glue injection and other chemical treatments to make the opaque jade transparent. Not only the jade quality of the jade is changed, but also its internal structure, making it lose its natural spirituality. Therefore, Grade B jade can be said to be inferior quality jade.

C-grade jade: refers to jade that is artificially dyed, with artificial colors added to colorless jade, usually green, yellow, purple, red, etc.

B+C goods: refers to the jade that is chemically injected with glue, and some green pigments are added into it to change the quality and color of the jade. The jade processed by this method is generally difficult to distinguish. Goods B and C are generally easier to identify.

How to identify goods with naked eyes

1. Look at the impurities: Natural A-grade goods cannot avoid the presence of impurities, such as black, yellow, and gray, but compared to processed B-grade goods, the impurities are very few.

2. Look at the color: C-grade jadeite usually has its color concentrated in existing areas, making the color look unnatural.

3. Look at the gloss: A-grade jade is very transparent and clear, while B-grade jade will appear particularly dull.

4. Observe the color distribution: Facing the light, we can clearly see the color distribution of jadeite. The color of C-grade jadeite is often distributed along the cracks, and the color distribution is often not very natural. In addition, if it is C-grade jadeite, there is no color root. We can see with the naked eye that its color is floating on the surface of the jadeite. The color is dull, and it has no aura like natural color at all.

5. Observe the surface: Rotate the jadeite towards the light and observe carefully. B-grade jadeite has many dents and dings on its surface, which can be easily seen.

6. Observe the clarity of jadeite particles: If it is natural jadeite, the clarity of the particles is very high, and they are tightly combined and have a hard texture. But if it is B-grade jadeite, it is generally chaotic.

This is the end of the introduction to the methods of identifying genuine and fake jadeite. These methods are relatively simple, but also very practical. You may wish to refer to them when collecting and purchasing.
