Violet is purple jade. The purple color of this kind of jade is generally lighter, like the purple of violets, hence the name.

Just like its color, violet always gives people a feeling of fantasy and mystery. Many jade lovers like jade of this color, but unfortunately they know very little about it. Today, I will take you to a deeper understanding of this "Fairy Zixia".

Purple Origin

It is generally believed that due to the trace amount of manganese in the original stone, the purple color also has different shades due to the different amounts of manganese and the degree of penetration of other trace elements, such as iron.

Purple Category

Violet jade is one of the most common colors of jade and has a higher market value.

Purple is rich and elegant, light purple is light and beautiful, and red purple is solemn, rich and unique.

The common violets on the market can be divided into five types according to color and saturation: royal purple, red purple, blue purple, violet, and pink purple.

Royal Purple

It refers to a rich and pure purple. Its color tone is very pure, the saturation is generally high, and the brightness is medium, thus showing a sense of wealth, grace and generosity.

This kind of purple is actually very rare and belongs to the theoretical grade jadeite. Even among purple jadeite, it is hard to find one in a hundred miles, and it has a high collection value.

Red and purple

It is a purple color that tends to be jade red. Its color saturation is usually medium, and it is rare to see a very high saturation type. It is not common in purple jadeite either, and its value is highly recognized.

Blue Purple

It is a purple that leans towards blue. Its saturation varies greatly, from light blue-purple to dark blue-purple. It is a more common type of purple jadeite, and is called "eggplant purple" in the jargon.

When the saturation is high, the color often has a gray-blue feel and the brightness is generally lower than other types.

Violet

It is the most common type of commercial jade. The purple ranges from medium depth to light color. This purple often appears in some jade with coarse or fine texture. Sometimes it appears with green to form the so-called "spring color", which is the standard color of violet jade.

Pink Purple

It is a lighter purple, which may have a reddish or bluish feel, but does not reach the level of red purple or blue purple. Although its purple color is still relatively obvious, its saturation is relatively low. It often appears in some jadeite with good water head and fine texture. Its commercial value is the lowest among all purples.

When choosing "violet" jadeite, you should pay attention that the industry has a nickname for violet jadeite: "death in the light." This means that some violet jadeite appears purple indoors, but turns white under natural light.

In fact, it is because violet jade is generally water-proof and impermeable, so when you look at it inside under the sun, the cotton wool obviously appears white.

Because of the influence of the transparency of the jade material itself, in fact, many colors of jade can be very different under different lighting conditions.
