How is jadeite rough stone processed?

Jadeite is processed from raw materials to finished products, mainly through the following processes:

1. Raw material processing: including material selection and cutting. Jade materials are generally very precious, and they must be measured and fully utilized to achieve "basically no waste."

2. Design and craftsmanship: A perfect jade artifact should be an ingenious combination of the beauty of material and shape. Some jade materials must emphasize the beauty of their colors.

3. Polishing process: generally there are the following steps:

[1] Chopping: Using a diamond wheel to chop away the useless parts outside the ink line;

[2] Chiseling: Use a diamond wheel to saw the depth of the grooves to further chisel away the useless parts;

[3] Punching: Use a small round stone (or diamond wheel) with a diameter of 3-4 cm to punch out the uneven parts into a rough jade piece;

[4] Grinding: Grinding out a large sample using grinding stones of different sizes. Such as grinding out human tips, hands and streamers, etc.;

[5] Rolling: To make the material thinner with a rolling mill. Such as opening the face, opening the eyebrows, rolling out the mouth, nose, ears, etc.

[6] Hook: Use a hook to draw out finer patterns. Such as drawing dragon scales, phoenix feathers and characters' hair.

4. Polishing: There are generally two ways to polish jade. Plain jade articles (such as jade bracelets, jade buckles, chicken hearts, pendants and ring faces) are mostly polished by hand; while Guanyin, Maitreya Buddha and various flower pieces are polished with a polishing machine. Polishing with a polishing machine takes a long time, about a week to complete, but a large number can be polished at one time.
